On March 29 the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation summarized the results for implementing projects aimed at creating and developing engineering centers in universities in 2016. Successful experience in collaborating of the SUSU Center of Computer Engineering (CCE) with industrial enterprises was presented to the Ministry experts by Andrey Keller, Vice-Rector of Strategic Development and supervisor of the Project.

SUSU Center of Computer Engineering has been established comparatively recently, in the summer of 2016. But it is today, in less than a year of operating, that the Center has demonstrated notable results. The Ministry of Education and Science has highly estimated the Center’s work. And it is not surprising, as the Center has united possibilities of the best innovative laboratories of the university, and the leading scientists and engineers participate in its development.

The Ministry of Education and Science highly estimated developments in the sphere of automotive and transport engineering – the energy-efficient transmission for KAMAZ trucks, design solutions of machines with computerized numerical control for Production Association Mayak, etc. The experts have appreciated high rate of development in CCE collaboration with Russian and international companies. Over the last few months the Center’s projects have attracted interest of the world’s leader in machines manufacture – the Klingelnberg, and one of the leaders in helicopter engineering, the only domestic developer and manufacturer of helicopters – Holding Company Russian Helicopters.

Summarizing the results of Engineering Centers’ operation in universities, Mikhail Popov, the Director of the Department of Program Management and Competitive Procedures, noted that Engineering Centers are capable of completing difficult technical tasks effectively, by using scientific and technical basis of universities, along with the effectiveness of the support given to them by the Ministry of industry and Trade and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

Vladimir Pastukhov, Director General of the Center for Project Management in Industry emphasized that computer engineering is one of the preferences for governmental support in our country. Therefore, the CCE is planning to provide engineering developments by orders from Russian industrial holding companies. Specialists from the SUSU Center of Computer Engineering are sure that the projects intended for import substitution program have a bright future in Russia.
