Extending Boundaries: Representative of Freiberg Mining Academy and Rector of SUSU Discussed New Opportunities of Collaboration

On the 11th of May, the Rector of SUSU Alexander Shestakov and the Director of a Student organization at the Freiberg Mining Academy Thomas Schmaltz held a meeting at SUSU.

The purpose of Thomas Schmaltz’s visit was to discuss the program of the joint Russian-German summer school of language and culture.

“We are planning on expanding our collaboration: from student exchanges that we are already successfully implementing, we would also like to turn to scientific cooperation between our universities. I would like to notice that nowadays SUSU is cooperating with a number of German companies such as SMS-group, Siemens, etc. We are constantly expanding cooperation, and this is the tendency for development of Program 5-100. Therefore, I think that this experience will also be interesting and useful to the University of Freiberg, with whom we have been friends for many years. I think that such cooperation will be successful,” says the Rector of SUSU Alexander Shestakov.

According to Alexander Leonidovich, international activity of the university began with the University of Freiberg and has been conducted for more than 12 years. In addition, such fields of study as mining metallurgy and materials science, which are actively developing in the Freiberg Mining Academy, are also important for our university.

We should note that SUSU students successfully participate in the exchange program, get acquainted with the University of Freiberg and with the culture of Germany; they also learn the language and obtain new knowledge and experience.
