On July 6th in the foresight session introductory lessons were held for applicants. They got to know the program Production Technology and Catering Organization of the Institute of Sport, Tourism, and Service. The future students were shown the department, and had an excursion and master class.
Yesterday's schoolchildren got to know the features of this profession and learned where they can work and what a graduate of this department should know. The profession tied to technology and public catering arrangement will always be in demand since the culture of catering and eating leads people throughout their whole lives.
“We learn physics and chemistry in school, but we are not taught how to apply this to life, and our subjects are closely tied to them and this is very interesting. Culinary art is science and etiquette. This culture has been built over centuries. In my opinion, the main benefit of the foresight session for applicants is to understand their future profession and determine what they will run in to in their education,” said Elena Barmenkova, director of the Center of Developing Tourism in the Chelyabinsk Region, sharing her opinion.
Elena Ivanova held a masterclass for the audience, introduced them to the manufacturing technician profession, and talked about the features of etiquette and restaurant business.
Besides the theoretical portion, there was an excursion throughout the academic laboratory, where they got to know the equipment that students work with in practical lessons.
Each applicant received a commemorative souvenir from the institute.
Graduate of School #1 from Kopeysk, Konstantin Konarev, shared his feelings on the event:
“I had very good impressions. I asked a lot of questions and all of them had interesting answers. I liked that over a short period of time they were able to tell us the key aspects of our future profession.”
The applicants also got do know the Institute of Natural Sciences. In meeting the institute, they were told about the academic programs, the leading graduates of the department, and about the prospects of these programs. Such large companies as Emerson, Metran, Rosatom, and others work with the institute.
“We don't just talk about how our university and admissions campaign are the most open for applicants, we prove this with these kinds of events and meetings. Our main goal is to help applicants calmly live through this difficult time that comes before enrollment,” said doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, associate professor Alevtina Keller, director of the Institute of Natural Sciences.
Besides the presentation, the school graduates had the chance to see the academic laboratories: the Laboratory of Photonics and Optoinformatics, the Laboratory of Interferometry, the Laboratory of Spectroscopy, the Laboratory of Electronics, and the Laboratory of Materials of Electronic Technology. The excursion was led by professor Vladimir Mikhailovich Berezin, doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, and professor Nataliya Dmitrievna Kundikova, doctor of physical and mathematical sciences.
Parents attended this event with the former schoolchildren. Mother of graduate of school #1 of Verkhny Ufaley Aleksandra Golodnova shared her thoughts on the presentation:
“I think that it is necessary to hold such events. They help children understand unique features of the profession they're choosing and what waits for them in the future. I see how passionately my daughter takes in every word the professors say and how she looks at the equipment in the laboratory with interest.”
