Head of the SUSU's Constitutional Law Department Elena Titova Became a Contender for CEC Membership

 

Head of the SUSU’s Constitutional Law Department Elena Titova is recommended by the CEC to be included in membership of the region’s Election commission. Voting in the Central Election Commission of Russia took place on August, 9. Candidature of Elena Titova was unanimously approved by the CEC. Its Chair, Ella Pamfilova, noted that this candidature is not questionable.

Elena Titova is an active expert of the Public Chamber. She is director of the expert-legal club of the region’s Public Chamber, whose main goal is to attract competent specialists in the field of law for discussing social and political topics, and also to inform population in clear and understandable form about essence of legislative processes which take place in the South Urals. The club includes lawyers of different specializations, such as criminal action, administrative, constitutional and civil law, labor and social law, who are well-known in the Chelyabinsk region. They carry out independent expert evaluation of federal, regional and local regulations, give an assessment of the most significant and relevant draft laws.

“Until recently, electoral franchise was interesting to me only theoretically. And now there is a unique opportunity to learn its mechanisms and peculiarities in practice. I am very grateful for the vote of confidence, and I hope that my knowledge and experience will be useful in activity of the Election Commission of the Chelyabinsk region for protecting constitutional rights of citizens,” commented Elena Titova.

The candidature proposed by the CEC is to be definitively approved in the nearest future by the governor of the Chelyabinsk region Boris Dubrovskiy.
