Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities Developing Programs of Academic Mobility

Within the realization of the 5-100 Program, the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities has begun a number of events aimed at developing international partnership. Interdisciplinary humanitarian research is one of the key areas of scientific work at the Institute. Orlin Stefanov, professor from Sofia University, doctor of philology, famous literary and theatrical researcher, began to pass his mastery on to SUSU students and teachers. Under the guidance of the Bulgarian professor, philological bachelor’s and master’s students from the Department of Russian Language and Literature have already begun to master Bulgarian, analyze cultural and artistic works, and work with art history texts. The laboratory season of the Department of Russian Language and Literature’s work with gifted graduate of leading gymnasiums and lyceums of Chelyabinsk began with Stefanov’s lectures. In addition, Orlin Stefanov already represented SUSU at the city’s cultural venues as an independent arbitrator for the Third International Festival Debarkader.

The Department of Russian and Foreign History of the ISSH is accepting interns from Germany and the USA as part of a program for the scientific partnership of SUSU students and teachers with the Faculty of Global Sociocultural Research of the University of Florida (Miami, USA) and the Faculty of Slavic Studies at Heidelberg University (Germany). The program was developed within the topical area of historical research Science and Technology Studies, and is called Science and Technical Progress in the Public and Everyday Lives of the Ural Region. Postgraduate students of Heidelberg University Laura Zembritski and Florida International University Rozibel Sokorro Roman are gathering archive materials in their research topics and regularly meet with faculty members for consultations. Over the course of their internship, the interns will present their projects to students and professors of the ISSH, discuss them with colleagues, and share their initial research results.

In 2017, the successful partnership of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communications with the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (Astana) will continue.
