A Lecture by Professor of the HSE Faculty of Telecommunications Alexander Arkhangelsky Held at SUSU

On October 7, a meeting of students and academic staff with Russian literary scholar, literary critic, publicist, TV-host and writer Alexander Arkhangelsky took place at South Ural State University within the 7th Open Book Literature Festival. Together with Alexander Arkhangelsky, students searched for answers to questions about the future of journalism, paper books and technology.

Alexander Arkhangelsky is the author and host of the “Tem Vremenem” (“Meanwhile”) TV program, Professor of the Faculty of Telecommunications of National Research University Higher School of Economics. The topic of discussion was transmedia production in digital industries.

“The entire lecture was explicitly arranged – there was futurology, history, literature, etc. I met a new, very interesting person,” noted a student of SUSU Daniil Rukavitsyn.

Audience of the lecture together with Alexander Arkhangelsky analyzed modern tendencies of development of media industry and immersed themselves in the history of book printing, television, photography and Internet. They also reviewed some works of students from the HSE Faculty of Telecommunications.

Meetings with specialists from different cities have become traditional at SUSU. Educational process allows students getting knowledge not only from attending lectures, but also from communicating with professionals and with people who are successful in their areas of activities.

“I think students get knowledge at the university not only by reading books and attending lectures. It is very important to exchange the experience with people who not just became successful but have become acknowledged specialists in their spheres, who have become pioneers and leaders,” said Elena Ponomareva, Director of the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Lectures by scientists with a lot of practical experience are of great interest for both students, bachelors and masters, and for academic staff. At the end of the meeting, audience of the lecture could ask and discuss questions.
