SUSU Students Became the World Champions in College Hockey

The World Cup of College Hockey finished in Slovakia. Three largest teams of student ice hockey leagues of the USA, Europe and Russia took part in the international tournament.

Four SUSU students got included in the national team of Russia: Nikita Vasilyev, Adil Kuchukov, Georgiy Yulskiy and Maksim Antoshkin. Head coach was Artem Pletnev, the mentor of the Polytechnik ice hockey team of South Ural State University.

In the final of the prestigious tournament, the team won over ASNA team (USA). American players took the lead at the 44th second of the match, but trainees of Artem Pletnev managed not only quickly square the score but also jump ahead in the first period. Afterwards the team steadily controlled the course of the match and finished with a confident win. Final score of the match was 6:1.

The student tournament was held for the first time, but organizers are not going to stop on it.

“The World Cup featuring student teams from Russia, USA and Europe is held for the first time and is very important for our leagues. We are planning to hold the tournament annually. Forming of the national team became a huge step which favors for subsequent development of student hockey. Participation of the Student Hockey League in the World Cup is just the beginning,” noted Anton Khramtsov, Managing Director of the Student Hockey League.
