The Lektoriy Obrazovacha Educational Project Starts at the SEM Business School

Guests of the event will attend 3 interesting lectures. During the Lektoriy, speakers will talk about what draws people’s attention when they see an advertisement; how residents of different countries react on it; why do we need and where is already used heat-resistant concrete based on aluminosilicate spheres – the invention of one of our speakers; and what does Archaeology of the Invisible study, and what did people of the Bronze Age have for food.

Topic 1: Archaeology of the Invisible or what do we know about food of the Bronze Age

The proverbial phrase of Hippocrates “You are what you eat” has been and will always be relevant. Food is not just part of our existence; it is its foundation and an inseparable part of culture. But how can we learn recepies of the past? The answers are being searched and found by archaeology. Except that this science only works with material traces of human existence, meanwhile there are no traces of food left. How can this problem be solved?

This question, by the example of South Ural’s Bronze Age, will be answered by our first speaker, Andrey Yepimakhov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the SUSU Department of Russian and Foreign History.

Topic 2: Management of (human) views on global markets

Cross-cultural research of native patterns of visual information perception on global markets. In other words, what a Mexican, Russian, American, Chinese of Indian sees when interacting with advertisement.

This and eye tracking technology will be explained by Olga Shabalina, Candidate of Philosophic Sciences, Associate Professor of SUSU, Professor of Mount St. Mary's University (Maryland, USA).

Topic 3: Light heat-resistant concrete with increased operating temperature

Scientific invention of Dmitry Bogusevich, a postgraduate students of the SUSU Department of Building Materials and Products, is light heat-resistant concrete with operating temperature up to 1350°C.

“The concrete has been developed on the basis of aluminosilicate micro spheres which are produced during flame combustion of coal and are industrial wastes. Therefore, this concrete’s manufacture is ecologically profitable. This concrete has already been successfully applied by Rosneft Company at a section of oil extraction, and in Kazakhstan at a reduction plant,” says Dmitry.

We invite everybody wishing to take part in the Lectoriy. Entrance is free.
