“We Create Bright Events” – Maria Shutova on the SUSU’s Mass Cultural Events Committee

In 2006 South Ural State University established a Mass Cultural Events Committee, which today organizes major university events.

The head of the committee is the student of the 3rd year of studies of the School of Economics and Management Maria Shutova. She shares on who the subdivision comprises, and what tasks the committee handles university-wise.

What is Mass Cultural Events Committee?

— Mass Cultural Events Committee is the biggest university committee uniting creative people in order to hold various events. Every year we fulfill over 10 big projects, including SUSU Mister, SUSU’s Best Representatives, SUSU Miss, and Matriculation Ceremony. The committee also popularizes mass culture movement across the university.

Who does the Mass Cultural Events Committee comprise?

— The main part of the committee comprises many people from different institutes and schools who hold events at South Ural State University, and also organize and participate in grand events at other venues of the city of Chelyabinsk. Each committee enthusiast tries to excel in his/her studies with only A and B marks, so they’re also good students!

What qualities should a Mass Cultural Events Committee member have?

— Personal qualities of a true member of the committee should include responsibility, proactivity and creativity. These are essential qualities for a person dealing with creating bright and interesting events, and it’s important that each of those becomes unique. And the number of the held events gives one a nice experience and a portfolio bonus!

What are the goals and tasks of the Mass Cultural Events Committee?

— The goal of the SUSU’s Mass Cultural Events Committee is organizing mass cultural events of SUSU, involving the university students to provide them with a more diverse recreation. Our tasks, first and foremost, include improvement of the existing mass cultural events, which are held by the university faculties; developing and organizing new projects in the field of students’ recreation organization. We also find active students and engage them in mass cultural activity of our university, develop and fulfill cultural program for the students’ summer vacations.
