Branch of the South Ural Association of International Students Created at SUSU

SUSU’s Association of International Students is an active venue for discussion of the problems of stay of foreign students in different groups: international students, Russian and international students, international students and the university’s administration, diplomatic representatives and public associations.

The student association acts as the organizer of a number of national holidays, such as Nowruz, Day of Arabic Culture, Chinese New Year, and others; culinary festivals; sports competitions (indoor soccer, basketball, multidiscipline competition, etc.). Besides cultural and mass-sports events, scientific-and-informative meetings, round tables, debates are held, as well as social and health recreation programs are fulfilled.

An Association of International Students (AIS) already existed earlier at South Ural State University, but the subdivision’s activity was limited only to the university’s sphere.

Taking into account the level of the performed activity, the President of the Association of International Students Yao Adu recommended that the SUSU’s Association of International Students should be assigned a new status ‒ the Branch of the South Ural Association of International Students.

“Our young people have long been aware that AIS is not just a student association aiming at organizing recreation. The Association performs an important function ‒ protecting the rights and representing interests of international students. Since the moment of establishment of the SU AIS the students of not only our city but of the whole region will be responsible for the wellbeing of foreign citizens. Big responsibility – big goals! We have the support of the Chelyabinsk Region International Cooperation Agency. We’re planning on holding joint events at various levels which will facilitate development of international relations and international cooperation,” comments the employee of the International Affairs Division Valeriya Chachina.

Here is to remind you that more than 2,000 international students from 48 countries from all over the world study at SUSU under various specialities and fields. Starting from 2013 the Chelyabinsk Branch of the Association of International Students has been successfully operating at South Ural State University the main tasks of which include assisting international students in adapting, solving problems and issues related to studying, accommodation and recreation, introducing the students to the peculiarities of Russian culture, and maintaining international friendship.
