“Master’s degree students studying in the specialty of Heat Power and Thermal Engineering of the SUSU Polytechnic Institute can be enrolled in the same program at Kazakh National University. This partnership is beneficial for both the Russian and Kazakh parties. In Almaty, a big emphasis is put on getting deep theoretical knowledge, whereas in Chelyabinsk we have more practically-oriented education,” explains the Head of the SUSU Department of Industrial Thermal Power Engineering, Konstantin Osintsev.

At Al-Farabi KazNU, a multiprofile research cluster has developed, recognized in both Kazakhstan and abroad, which contributes to implementation of fundamental and applied research and development. This is a leading university of Kazakhstan located in Almaty, one of the most picturesque areas of the country, which occupies 220th place in the QS World University Rankings. Studying in double degree programs allows students from Russia and Kazakhstan not only obtaining two diplomas of the leading universities of Russia and Kazakhstan, but also receive double scholarship. Kazakh universities offer our students a scholarship of 10,000 rubles a month and free-of-charge dormitory residence. Final project defense is also held in two universities, but thanks to modern means of video communication, this occurs simultaneously.

In addition, all of the universities are interested in bachelor’s students from both countries participating in academic mobility programs. Student mobility is the chance to spend one or two semesters in a different country as an exchange student without halting one’s education at home, which favors for internationalization of higher education as well as cultural integration of the youth of various countries. For students, this means new knowledge, new experiences, and the chance to work in new laboratories and dive into a different culture.
