SUSU Student Takes Gold in International Competition in Anapa

Students from the SUSU Uralsky Sokol (Ural Falcon) Sports Club showed excellent results in kettlebell sport in a physical culture festival in Anapa. Kamil Yusupov took first place in the category of under 73kg, Danila Sedin – the 4th place, and Anatoly Mikhailov – the 5th place.

The athletes got themselves ready for this competition in just over two weeks.

“I’m a professional kettlebell lifter for 2 years now. I’m training and get ready for all competitions that are available. I had very good impressions from the festival, I feel great. It was very well organised. Of course, it’s great that there was a beach and the sea there,” says the competition winner Kamil Yusupov.

Students from Russian and Belarussian universities take part in the festival of physical culture. The competitions are part of a big Russian-Belarussian project – the annual Student Olympics of the Allied State for Children and Youth, which is being held since 2003.

The main goal of this contest is to strengthen friendly relationships between the young people of the allied peoples. Besides students from Chelyabinsk, among the participants were students from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, the republics of Buryatia, Adygea, Komi, Chuvashia, the Belgorod and Ryazan regions, and the Khanty-Mansijsk Autonomous District and the Krasnodar Territory.

There were five disciplines offered: 3x3 basketball (young women), volleyball (young men), kettlebell sport, darts, and table tennis.

On October 5th, the festival’s closing ceremony will be held, where the winners will be awarded their prizes. Before the closing, our South Ural athletes still need to compete in the team relay.
