President of Emerson Corporation, Michael Train will open the Global Forum on Industry 4.0 at SUSU

One month remains till the start of a unique international scientific Global Smart Industry Conference — 2018, which is to be held on November 13th through 15th at South Ural State University. The event will be opened by a report by the Conference Chair, President of Emerson Corporation, Michel Train, who is to visit Russia in the new status for the first time.

Being the head of the world’s leading trendsetter company of digital industry, Mr. Train will talk about the idea of digital industry and of its key components; he will also describe the current state of digital industry in the USA and other countries, and provide a forecast of its development in the closest and mid-term prospective.

Moreover, Rector of Saint Petersburg State University, Andrey Rudskoy (“Formation of digital industry on the basis of digital twins”), Philippe Bertrand from the National Engineering School of Saint-Etienne (ENIS) (“Synergy of additive and subtractive manufacturing for the future of the Manufacturing Industry”), Manus Henry from the University of Oxford, Great Britain (“PRISM: checking the accuracy of measurements for the Internet of Things”) have already confirmed their participation in the Conference as honorable guests and keynote speakers.

The following world-level specialists in the sphere of digital manufacturing will share results of their research: Professor of CICESE Research Center (Mexico), Andrei Tchernykh (“Security of IoE (Internet of Things) under conditions of unknown risks”); Professor of the School of Automation Science and Electrical Engineering of Beihang University (China), Tao Fei (“From Digital Twin to Digital Twin Shop-Floor”), and many other.

Overall, SUSU will bring together leading researchers in the sphere of digital manufacturing from Russia, USA, China, Germany, Portugal, Turkey, Italy, India, Poland, and other countries of the world. “The International Program Committee has done a serious work in selection of articles for the Conference. Out of more than 400 submitted articles, reviewers admitted only 100 papers, which proves the high level of preparation for the International Conference at our university, as well as of high quality of research materials,” noted Gleb Radchenko, Director of the SUSU School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

During three days of the Conference, there are going to be plenary sessions and industrial sessions featuring more than 100 representatives of leading industrial enterprises of the abroad and the Ural Federal District, such as SMS Group, Schneider Electric, Samsung, ММК and other. Within the industrial session, a video conference featuring Jonathan Cullen (University of Cambridge, Great Britain) and representatives of Emerson Company is planned to be held on the topic “Resource efficiency for resource-consuming industries”.

“There was no scientific conference on digital manufacturing of such level in Russia yet. This is an important event not only for national science but for the world’s science as well,” says Vice-Rector for Informatization of SUSU, Professor Leonid Sokolinskiy. “Our university is acting as a venue that unites scientific resources, supercomputer calculation systems and unique laboratory facilities that allow performing really difficult tasks. This union becomes a good catalyst for determination of new directions towards Industry 4.0; this is also an opportunity for experience exchange between leading developers of Russia and the world.”

The upcoming Conference will become a unique chance for students to obtain an extensive review of modern technology and have a glimpse at the future of various industries, and for participants of the Conference this will become a chance to perform exchange of research-and-technology competencies, consider new objects of cooperation, and share their vision regarding the industry of the future.
