Internship in Romania under Erasmus+ Grant

Lecturer of the SEM Industrial Economics and Project Management Department Anna Dolinskaya and two associate professors of the SEM Department of Management, Yana Dobrynina and Aleksandr Demchenko, completed an internship for teachers at Danubius University’s Faculty of Economics (Galati, Romania) under the Erasmus+ program in May 2019.

Danubius University was founded in 1992, and is currently educating students in Bachelor’s and Master’s programs. Danubius University positions itself as an international university with the best practices, creating an open and stimulating environment for personal growth and entrepreneurship, as well as a space for constant exchange of ideas and values among students and teachers.

This internship became possible thanks to the partnership between South Ural State University’s International Office and Danubius University as part of the Erasmus+ program, since a contract must be signed between universities to submit documents for a grant and to obtain funding for academic mobility.

All of the participants of the internship were awarded a grant from the Erasmus+ program. The European Union Erasmus+ program aims to strengthen ties and support partnership in education, professional training, youth, and sports. The program aims to promote the development of human and social capital in Europe and beyond its borders.

The internship included panel discussions at which the participants discussed the following questions: possibilities of attracting international students in academic mobility programs; difficulties and issues in holding internships for students and teachers; prospects for future partnership. A presentation about South Ural State University was also given, which showed all of the international programs for students, the university’s research interests, and possibilities for partnership.

A round table was held with Vice-Rector for Research Florian Nuta and representatives of international universities who arrived through academic mobility programs to discuss the prospects for research partnerships. In addition, as part of the mobility program, lecturers from the SUSU SEM gained the opportunity to attend the 14th International Conference on European Integration: Realities and Perspectives.

“Besides the Russian universities and Danubius University, around 10 delegations arrived from such countries as the Phillipines, Thailand, China, Moldova, Uzbekistan, and Albania. It is worth noting that our university was one of the largest and had one of the best selections of academic programs, and we were of great interest to the other delegations. Our colleagues from Thailand and Ryazan showed interest in joint research in management and marketing (we exchanged contact information and agreements). I hope that we will find some common interests and will fulfil work on them.”

The 35 member-countries of the program can fully participate in the grant opportunities of all of the programs; the Russian Federation is one of the partner countries. The higher education partnership in Erasmus+ has the following main fields:

  • International Credit Mobility for students, lecturers, and professors;
  • Erasmus+ Capacity building in the field of Higher Education – partnership for the development of the potential of universities and the exchange of best practices;
  • The Jean Monnet program.

The next contest of the Erasmus+ program will begin in autumn of 2019.
