The anniversary year filled with milestone events is over. We have honoured the 75th Anniversary of our university. The glorious history of the SUSU development was documented in a book titled South Ural State University (Golden Pages).
New Year is one of the favorite holidays of Russian people, which is traditionally celebrated by a feast with the family. It is often that on this day people cook various delicacies.
The annual pre-New-Year’s ceremonial reception was held at the Chelyabinsk City Administration, where along with professional athletes, who had become victors and prize-winners at the all-Russian and international competitions, four members of our Headquarters were awarded certificates and bonuses for their victory in the All-Russian Mini Football Competition among Student Labour Unions Teams.

In China, South Ural State University (SUSU) created its own network of Centres in order to promote Russian language and enhance the quality of training of Chinese citizens before their study in Russia. As reported by the SUSU Press Service, a robot named Vanya is going to help students to learn “the great and mighty” Russian language.
In the congress centre of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation in Moscow a ceremony of the 6th International Award Distributed Power Generation - Great Achievements was held. Among the award laureates were scientists from SUSU.
The SUSU Pushkin Institute research, education, and coordination centre holds events for students from China aimed at promoting Russian and education in Russia. Students were very interested in this form of education.
For many years South Ural State University has been acting as the main venue for holding the final rounds of the Open International Student Internet Olympiads. Recently the next winners have been awarded at the university.
The final round was held in the form of an online testing. Students from Chelyabinsk normally participate in the final round held at SUSU. This year the humanities cycle has gathered students from South Ural State University, Chelyabinsk State University, and Chelyabinsk State Institute of Culture and Arts.

A strategy session organised by the National Agency of Social Communications (NASC) took place at South Ural State University.

Presentation of The House of Volunteers 2020 Resource Centre and awarding of SUSU’s activists took place at South Ural State University.
The Rector of SUSU took part in the ceremony of The House of Volunteers 2020 Resource Centre’s opening. Aleksandr Shestakov noted that training of volunteers for holding the meeting of the SCO and BRICS leaders is an important and honorable task for both the Chelyabinsk region and the university.
On December 1st 2018, one more group of SUSU staff members took the international exam IELTS. Preparation for this test was part of the project 2.1.1 Implementation of the best practices of language training at Project 5-100 universities in the Lingva additional language training program. Members of the university’s staff who successfully completed the exam shared their thoughts on the programme.
According to the decision by the Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Boris Dubrovsky, 7.4 mln. roubles will be annually spent on digitalization of agricultural lands in our region in 2019 – 2021. More than 1.3 mln. hectares of agricultural lands, that is about 45% of plough land, have already been digitalized in the Chelyabinsk Region. The main contractor on digitalization of the municipalities’ lands is the Geoinformation Systems Research and Education Centre of South Ural State University.
An international championship entitled “Your World – Your Project” was held at South Ural State University on December 21-22. Students of the School of Economics and Management took part in the event.
The SUSU Department of International Relations and Regional Studies would like to thank all of the participants of the Music of Translation contest, which included contestants from a wide geographical range and presented the work of students not only from South Ural State University, but also from Chelyabinsk State University, the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University, Pushkin Leningrad State University, and Oles Honchar Dnipro National University (Dnipro, Ukraine).
Today over 2,000 students from 52 countries, including China, Middle East countries, Africa, and Vietnam, are studying at South Ural State University. In 2019 SUSU will launch over ten in-demand Master’s degree programmes.
“When we develop a new educational programme for international students, we take into account the jobs of the future,” explains Olga Yaroshenko, SUSU Vice-Rector for International Relations.
