On November 23–24, a Regional Student Science-to-practice Conference on the Countries of the Korean Peninsula: the Past and the Present was held in Irkutsk.

Irkutsk State University and the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Russia acted as the event organizers. SUSU student Sofiia Repina, majoring in History, presented her report on the Image of the Korean War as Covered by the Soviet Periodicals, on the Example of Ogoniok Magazine in 1950-1953.

November 28 through November 30, 2023, the 3rd Young Scientists Congress is being held at the Sirius Federal Educational Centre in Sochi. South Ural State University presents the results of its leading projects as part of the exhibition program of the Congress.

Research fellows from the SUSU Laboratory for Studying Environmental Problems in Post-industrial Agglomerations Tatiana Krupnova and Olga Rakova have presented their reports at the major forum of the 3rd Mediterranean Geosciences Union (MedGU–2023).

The conference is being held at Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Istanbul, and has gathered 1200 participants from 89 countries. Among the scientists are ecologists, meteorologists, geologists, and even palaeontologists.

Competitions in track-and-field athletics, dedicated to Nikolai Golubenkov, took place in the indoor athletic stadium of the Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service of South Ural State University.

The Day of Dictionaries and Encyclopaedias has been recently celebrated in Russia. This holiday was established at the initiative of the Russian Language Arts Society in 2010, on the birth day of Vladimir Dal, a prominent lexicographer, ethnographer, Russian folklorist and author of the Explanatory Dictionary of the Living Great Russian Language.

Andrei Ronzhin, Director of the St. Petersburg Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Sciences (Engineering), Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences, took part in the 2023 Global Smart Industry Conference, held in Chelyabinsk.

Mother is the most important word for every one of us, and so is the person behind it. In many countries of the world there are special days dedicated to mothers. Svetlana Krivonogova, Associate Professor, Candidate of Sciences (History), Head of the Department of Russian and International History of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities at South Ural State University, spoke about the history of the Mother’s Day holiday in Russia and its relevance in the modern world.

World Television Day is celebrated on November 21^st. The holiday is devoted to an important role of television in shaping society and its views, as well as the culture that television programs promote.

We are happy to share the news on successful completion of the Stipkom-2023 All-Russian Seminar School on the Legislative Aspects of Scholarship Support in Higher Education Organizations. This event was held November 17th through November 19th in the city of Chelyabinsk in the South Ural region and gathered together leading specialists and experts on scholarship support from various universities, as well as 200 best participants from all over our country.

Marking the professional holiday of university teachers, we are conducting a series of interviews with SUSU academic staff members. This time, Pavel Gamov, Candidate of Sciences (Engineering), Associate Professor, Head of the SUSU Department of Pyrometallurgical and Foundry Technologies spoke about his student life, science and labour of love.

On November 22nd, Russia celebrates Psychologist's Day, which was officially adopted in 2023.

On November 15th and 16th, KONAR Industrial Group organized a series of career guidance meetings at South Ural State University. At the venues, students of the Institute of Engineering and Technology met their potential employer: studied the products being manufactured by this group of companies, and learned about the technology and production processes specifics.

The Minister noted that the Higher School Teachers’ Day is still a new holiday, but is a well-known one already. Not only the profession-related community celebrates it, but also many of those who feel grateful to their mentors.

"Meat" grown in vitro from animal stem cells, artificially created "chicken" eggs, granules and puree from black soldier fly larvae, cricket flour − no, these are not the fantasies of dystopian authors, today this is our possible gastronomic reality.

On November 16, 2023, the Consul General of the Republic of Tajikistan in the city of Yekaterinburg, Zafar Sayidzoda, took part online in a solemn event that was held at South Ural State University on the occasion of the President's Day in the Republic of Tajikistan and in honour of the 31st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Russian Federation.

The traditional ceremony of awarding scholarships of the Legislative Assembly of the Chelyabinsk Region to students and postgraduates of educational organizations was held in the middle of November.

Students of South Ural State University also received a one-time payment. The awards were given for successes and achievements in studies and science, creative victories, and various contributions to public life.

In 2023, Science Days are dedicated to the contribution of regions to ensuring the technological sovereignty of our country, the development of interregional partnerships, and the popularization of scientific research results. Scientists from the Chelyabinsk, Kurgan and Sverdlovsk regions gathered to discuss the most significant issues in the development of science and technology.

The 7^th International Science-to-practice Conference of China-Russia: On the Crossroads of Cultures took place at Novosibirsk State Technical University November 9^th through November 10^th.

My congratulations to you on this relatively new, but already important professional holiday, the Higher School Teachers’ Day!

This holiday was established three years ago, following a decree by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia. It is celebrated on November 19th, on the birthday of a great Russian scientist and one of the founders of Russian education, Mikhail Lomonosov.

A project on integrated processing of industrial waste by SUSU and Teplostroi Engineering Centre provides eco-friendly approach to the disposal of slag from copper smelting enterprises. It is proposed to extract iron from industrial waste and use it for producing wear-resistant cast iron grinding balls and construction fittings; and synthetic basalt, pseudo-wollastonite, pseudo-biofibre from oxide residues. The promising project is being implemented within the framework of the Ural Research and Education Centre.

The grand opening of the Science Days in the Chelyabinsk Region "Scientific Sovereignty − a Vector for the Development of the Region" took place on November 15, 2023.

November 6th through November 9th, the year's major choreography event was organized in Moscow. The final round of the OUR COUNTRY'S PRIDE National Choreography Award and a gala show were held in the State Kremlin Palace.

At the gala show, 100 best groups from all over our country performed to demonstrate their mastership. Among them was a group from the town of Korkino, Chelyabinsk Region, called Prospekt Gorniakov (Miners' Avenue).

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia has published a ranking on media activity among Russian universities as of October 2023. South Ural State University has taken the 16th place in this list (+4 positions in the ranking).
