Postgraduate students of SUSU will participate in international schools of software engineering development

The international board on the project “Joint Programs and Framework for Doctoral Education in Software Engineering”, or PWs PhD, implemented in the framework of the international program Erasmus+, held the first meeting on December 8-9, 2015 in Aalborg University. The project executive manager, dean of the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Informatics Gleb Radchenko and the head of the International Programs and Funds Department of the International Cooperation Directorate Yulia Balakina attended the meeting of behalf of South Ural State University.

This project will enable postgraduate students of SUSU, who study software engineering, to visit 7 international scientific schools in 6 countries in 2016-2018.

The first school will take place in March-April, 2016 in Lappeenranta University of Technology (Finland). It will focus on research methods and publication of papers on software engineering. It’s planned that 25 postgraduate students and 10 professors of Partner Universities will visit LUT in the framework of this school.

The Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Informatics of SUSU is one of the leading partners within this project. The Faculty is responsible for organization of the school “Mathematical and Computational Basics of Software Engineering”. This school will be held in the second quarter of 2017. The participation of the University in this project will guarantee the activation of international cooperation between postgraduate students and scientific schools of universities. It will strengthen cooperation of the regional and international IT industry with the best alumni and prominent scholars, as well as guarantee development of postgraduate programs in the field of software engineering, realized together with foreign partners.

One of the universities of the Consortium will organize semi-annually a 2-week school for postgraduate students from all Partner Universities. In the framework of these schools postgraduate students and their scientific supervisors will be offered courses on advanced methods of software engineering, reviews of the best practices of research projects realization and preparation of qualitative academic papers on software engineering. It includes the following areas:

1. Research methods in the days of “software as a service”;

2. Advanced methods and tools of software engineering;

3. Problem-oriented study in the field of software engineering;

4. Human-computer interaction in software engineering;

5. Models of software engineering and simulation;

6. Mathematical and computational basics of software engineering;

7. Software engineering: from a point of view of economics and business.

Apart from SUSU and Aalborg University, the Consortium includes Lappeenranta University of Technology (Finland), University of Rostock (Germany), University of Central Lancashire (UK), Yarmouk University, University of Science and Technology (Jordan) and others.

The main objective of the project is development of international cooperation on software engineering in the field of higher education and organization of a series of scientific schools.
