Representatives of the Department of Linguistics and the Institute for Open and Distance Education Improved Their Skills

Director of the  Institute for Open and Distance Education  Alexander Demin and assistant professor of the  Department of Linguistics and Intercultural Communication  Irina Stavtseva have undergone training within the program ‘Innovation in Higher Education: Massive Open Online Course (MOOC)’.

The course organized by the Institute of Advanced Training and Retraining of Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation (Moscow) was held from 16 to 18 December and gathered students from all over Russia. ‘Massive Open Online Courses’  is a good trend of education throughout the world since this form of organization of training allows a large number of interested students to study at their own pace in a familiar and comfortable environment for free.

Experts in the field of distance education, representatives of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Tomsk State University, and Volga State University spoke about their experience of creating MOOC and shared developed material and fresh ideas in this area. Visiting Professor Alexander Andreev told about the pedagogical features of MOOC: the structure and characteristics of the basic elements of the educational complex, the quality of assessment and its relation to learning online. Expert of the Federal Education and Science Supervision Service Elena Vershinina made a report on the organization of educational activities with the use of the MOOC in universities in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation. Head of the Laboratory of Innovative Educational Technologies of Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology Taras Pustovoy shared his experience in developing courses for the national platform of open education. Director of the Institute of Distance Education of Tomsk State University Galina Mozhayeva in her webinar gave a detailed response to the question ‘What do I need to provide online university project?’ on the example of TSU.

We should specifically mention a successfully organized session of experience exchange between direct participants of the course in which anyone could submit projects realized in high schools on online interaction between teachers and students and to learn something new.  All participants appreciated the actively used development of the Institute for Open and Distance Learning ‘Electronic SUSU 2.0’ which allows to create any online support for university discipline that brings together teachers and students in a single virtual learning environment.
