Future of Most Important Project for Russian Universities Is Discussed in Yekaterinburg

 

XV seminar and conference of 5-100 Project is held on February 11-12 at Ural Federal University.
SUSU delegation headed by the Rector Alexander Shestakov himself is working on the event. It includes most of the staff of the university who are one way or another involved in the Project. Reports on the progress of this large-scale event will be presented ‘SUSU-TV’TV and Radio Company.
 
500 representatives of higher education from across the country will share their experience and talk about their achievements to further implement the best practices in their educational institutions. The event will dwell on such important issues for Russian universities as the development of internationalization, research and innovation, publication activity, competent information policy, and improvement of educational programs including open education. Progress in the world rankings will be directly dependent on how successfully Russian universities will develop all of the abovementioned areas.
 
An important feature of the seminar held at Ural Federal University conference is the participation of a great number of reputable world-class experts. Among the experts who came to Yekaterinburg the following can be named: Vice-President of the World Observatory of University Rankings and Academic Excellence IREG Waldemar Sivinsky, Managing Director of IREG Kazimezh Bilanov, chief editor of QS ranking Ben Souter, President of the HESA Association of Higher Education Strategy (Higher Education Strategy Associates) and chief editor of Canadian edition of Global Higher Education Strategy Monitor Alex Usher, blog editor of University Ranking Watch Richard Holmes. Among the Russian speakers chief editor of RUR, the only national university ranking in the world, Oleg Soloviev can be named.
 
‘We are pleased to present our best practices and our opportunities, - said the rector of Ural Federal University, Victor Koksharov, at the opening of the seminar. - This conference should not only result in discussion but also in detailed achievements for future decision-making in activity on higher education institutions. We are all interested in the program to enhance the global competitiveness developed and maintained by the Government of the Russian Federation. It provides not only resources but also an incentive to the serious transformational change without which it is impossible to change the landscape of higher education in Russia for the better’.
 
The seminar will be attended by Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Aleksander Povalko. He will be giving a speech at a meeting of project offices, at a meeting of Sverdlovsk Regional Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs dedicated to implementation of the program of  ‘Ural Engineering school’ on February 12 at UrFU to get acquainted with the best practices of the Ural Federal University already implemented within the framework of the 5-100 Project.
