Valentin Dorokhov, graduate of the SUSU department of "System programming", worked on the computer graphics rendering for the film “Ekipazh”, which was released in Russia April 21st.
Valentin is the general director for the company “Render-Ferma”, which provided servers and supervised the rendering process, software settings, data synchronization, and corrected errors.
“To be honest, the hardest part for us was providing our services at night. Work was done ‘round the clock, and if one of the colleagues on the other end was absent or simply fell asleep, serious issues could have arisen which could only be solved together,” says Valentin.
We’d like to note that for the creation of the render farm it was necessary to use supercomputing capabilities. SUSU was among the organizations offering their free supercomputing resources to the graduate.
The graduate also interacted with the university when forming his personnel reserve. The company takes in students for practical work, helps them with employment, and participates in job fairs.
Work for this project began in February 2016, and this is not the first of such experiences for the company. In 2015 the Chelyabinsk render farm participated in the creation of the film “On Drakon” by Timur Bekmambetov.
According to Valentine, the company is interested in working in all areas, but animated films are more prospective for them since they are created exclusively on computers.

Today, the supercomputer “Tornado SUSU” is operating, which is included in the TOP500 list of the strongest computers of the world.
