SUSU Participated in an Exhibition in the Area of International Education, NAFSA (Denver, USA)

From May 29th to June 3rd, 2016, national research university, South Ural State University, represented Russia as one of the participants of the 5-100 project at the largest conference and exhibition in the area of international education, NAFSA, which was held in the capital of the state of Colorado, Denver (USA)

NAFSA (National Association for Foreign Student Affairs) is the largest non-commercial institute in issues of international education and exchange. It was founded in 1948 in the USA as the National Association of International Student Advisers. Today, the association includes more than 10,000 representatives of various state and social organizations, funds, research centers, and international and national corporations from more than 150 countries of the world. Its work includes a wide range of events aimed at the development of global education. More than 9000 specialists from 100 countries are participating in the event. Exhibitors include the European Association for International Education (EAIE), Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) and other regional associations, and also leading universities, national projects of the “Study in…” project, mass media specializing in education and science, consulting companies, and more.

University stands at the exhibition are joined together in a general exhibition pavilion. As part of the session dedicated to initiatives for development of BRIC country universities, representative of the 5-100 project office, head of the area of expert program support, Aleksey Falaleev, greeted guests with an opening speech. He spoke about how initiatives for academic excellence like the 5-100 project influence international academic collaboration.

According to one of the members of the SUSU delegation, pro-rector of strategic development, Andrey Keller, the main goals of the SUSU delegation to the USA were to increase the visibility of the university in the world market of educational services, to search for new university partners included in the rankings of the leading universities of the world, and to present SUSU as a world-class university.

During the visit to Denver the schedule of the South Ural State University delegation was very busy and productive. They held negotiations with representatives and leaders of national and international university associations and ratings agencies THE and QS. As a result of these meetings it became clear that international education society is interested in cooperation with SUSU.
