SUSU Scientist is among one of the Most Cited According to Leading Science Site

 

Head of the laboratory of crystal growth at the Nanotechnology research center, assistant professor of the Department of Materials Sciences and Materials Physical Chemistry, and chairman of the Society of Young Scientists and Specialists of the Chelyabinsk Oblast, Denis Vinnik, was named SUSU’s most cited author in September 2016 according to the professional scientific social network www.researchgate.net.

Today more than 31 papers by Denis Aleksandrovich have been published by that resource. Articles by the author have already been cited 95 times. Most interesting to readers was a series of papers on the topic of receiving volumetric magnetic single crystals of barium hexaferrite with a modified structure and properties. Among these publications, the highest quantitative significance of scientometric indicators is held by the earliest-published article of 2014, in which he presents growth results of research on the structure and magnetic properties of volumetric single crystals of barium hexaferrite partially substituted by aluminum (“Growth, structural and magnetic characterization of Al-substituted barium hexaferrite single crystals”, Journal of Alloys and Compounds, Dec. 2014).

In Denis Vinnik’s opinion, the active positioning of the scientific area of producing and characterizing functional single crystals and its results on researchgate allowed for the formation of a professional society and for the creation of timely information exchange within it. The result was the increase of the visibility of the scientific group of the laboratory of crystal growth and SUSU as a whole among researchers working in similar areas, and, in combination with the high quality and quantity of publications by the researchers’ author’s collective, lead to notable growth of the number of external citations of their publications.

The scientist’s recognition by his colleagues is represented by insignia (envelopes), awarded by researchgate. Receiving such envelopes from the system is possible, for example, when publications receive a certain number of reads or citations. Thanks to these envelopes, registered coauthors on the site who are subscribed to notifications from colleagues and researchers whose interests are close to the interests of a specific researcher can see his publications and the pattern of his research’s development as a whole. In the end, such acceleration to the exchange of information about achievements in scientific research will be important for the growth of scientometric indicators and the further evolution of SUSU researchers’ careers, as well as for the growth of the university’s competitiveness which is one of SUSU’s goals for the realization of the 5-100 project.
