SUSU Researchers Invite Students to Participate in an Experiment

Dear SUSU students!

The Higher School of Medicine and Biology is beginning a large-scale research aimed at developing effective methods for preventing and fighting stress.

We face various kinds of stress daily such as unpleasant or worrying situations, tight city traffic, and sounds. Students know first-hand about pre-exam stress, the breakdown our bodies undergo after a lack of sleep, and intense mental load from a lack of balance between “work and play”. These factors affect the whole body negatively at all levels. On the physical level, it can manifest as a feeling of overall fatigue, chronic tiredness, and depression, or they may notice psychological reactions like annoyance and affectation. Across these conditions there is one commonality – a lack of internal resources to rise above the situation and effectively complete the necessary tasks.

Thus, stress is not currently viewed as an exclusively psychological or medical problem. Stress is a complex reaction of the body, and therefore must be studied from many angles. Therefore, this research combines the efforts of specialists from various areas: medical professionals, psychologies, and experts in food biotechnology.

The research will be carried out among SUSU students; anyone of legal age who wishes to participate in the research can do it. Participants will be offered bread products with complex herbal supplements to add to their diet. It is hypothesized that this will make the body less susceptible to stress on a molecular level.

All participants of the project will receive scientifically-based recommendations suggested to cope with stress and its effects.

If you want to make a scientific contribution, learn new things about yourself, have an interesting experience, and, along the way, increase your body’s resistance to stress – we are waiting for you!

P.S. Those who wish to participate must come to auditorium 263 in building 2 on February 27th; there will be a tasting of the anti-stress bread.
