SUSU and ENISE: ongoing and future collaboration under Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility Program

Since 10 years already, our University and the National Engineering School of Saint-Etienne (ENISE, France) have identified their common interest in the field of advanced manufacturing technologies. Six students of SUSU have done an academic year in the ENISE by participating in a Master in Science Program or in a doctoral studies program covering different modern technologies of direct manufacturing and surface engineering. Mutual visits of teaching stuff and researchers and lecturers of our institutions have become a regular practice for us.

In 2015, the ENISE and the SUSU developed a joint program under the ERASMUS+ International Credit Mobility call for projects in order to give a new impulse to the exchanges and to get a European added value to the existing cooperation. The ERASMUS selection committee retained the proposal, and a number of mutual nobilities were planned.

Along with this, following the established strategy and practice, our two schools have been seeking for extra funding to support the joint mobility program and to boost the stuff mobility for teaching and the contacts between researchers. Our university, as a participant of the Russian Government Program for the promotion of the Russian Universities «5 of 100» had the opportunity to set up a new laboratory of advanced manufacturing and laser technologies. This laboratory is co-directed by an ENISE faculty member, and the elaboration of its scientific strategy as well as the development of its technical platform (hardware, software, auxiliary equipment, variety of consumables) is an actual concern. At the same time, the ENISE has managed to obtain two stipends from the Rhone-Alpes-Auvergne Region, which allowed two SUSU students to join the MSc program in the field of the tribology and surface engineering in Saint-Etienne.

The exchange of the lecturers and scientific stuff remains active: two teachers from the ENISE visited the SUSU as invited lecturers in December 2016, and two teachers from the SUSU visited the ENISE to assess, in particularly, the two SUSU Master’s students’ progress actually in the ENISE. A mobility of a SUSU faculty staff is planned for July 2017 to participate, among other issues, to the MSc thesis defense of the two SUSU students following actually the MSc program at the ENISE.
