Digital Technology, Bioengineering and Robotics Will Become Prioritized Areas of the Country’s Development

On December 23, the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, addressed the plenary session of the United Russia political party 17th Congress. The Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Olga Vasilyeva, took part in the congress.

During his speech at the congress, Vladimir Vladimirovich noted the necessity to establish a new employment market and a flexible modern system of vocational training.

“Of course, we should develop fundamentally new industries. This is crucial, there can be no future without it. Industries related to the introduction of advanced digital and industrial technologies, bio-engineering, robotics. The branches are already shaping the future of modern civilization and must ensure our country’s sustainability, progress and standing in tomorrow’s world,” said Putin.

The Russian leader stressed the leading role of science and the system of education.

“Russian schools must be among the world’s best in terms of quality and scope of training, and our colleges, vocational schools and universities must adopt leading standards in training workers, engineers, researchers and specialists of the new technological paradigm,” noted Vladimir Putin.

The President of Russia emphasized that young people in big and small cities, in villages and suburbs should have equal opportunities for self-fulfillment.

“We focus on developing the abilities and talents each child, each young person has. Work skills contests and grants for young researchers, support of gifted school and university students, the Sirius educational centre and the whole constellation of children’s techno parks, creative groups – all these projects are united by a common aim. This network must continue to expand. It is much too narrow today,” said V.V. Putin.

Nearly 2,500 people took part in the congress, including 455 delegates from the party’s 85 regional branches, heads of ministries and agencies, State Duma deputies, representatives of the regional executive and legislative bodies, secretaries of United Russia regional political councils, and representatives of the expert and scientific communities.
