Around four thousand students from South Ural State University will officially become graduates and become the happy owners of higher education degrees earned at one of Russia’s leading universities.

Students who completed their education in 2018 were witness to significant changes at SUSU: South Ural State University’s entrance in to Project 5-100 – a program for enhancing the competitiveness of Russian universities, the consolidation and transformation of the university’s academic subdivisions into 10 new schools and institutes, the opening of laboratories, unique developments, a presentation of a new brand platform, and the university’s inclusion into the list of the top 1000 universities around the world. This year, the Award Ceremony will be a special one, as this year is the 75th anniversary of SUSU. This day will also be special with the fact that on June 30th of 2018, the 250 thousandth SUSU graduate will earn his degree.

“Each year, we try to create a special, unforgettable celebration for graduates! After all, for every student, university graduation is a long-awaited and very special event in life, but it’s no less significant for the university, especially in an anniversary year!” noted Svetlana Philipchuk, Director of the SUSU Art Center.

This year, the event will begin with a theatrical prologue entitled “Bright Future”, performed by the Deep Vision dance theater and the Maneken student theater. According to existing traditions, Rector Aleksandr Shestakov will give the command to bring out the university’s flag and to begin the march by students from the Faculty of Military Training accompanied by the orchestra of the Chelyabinsk Red Banner Military Aviation Institute of Navigators. Then, the Primavera choir will perform the university’s anthem, and the Rector will offer a congratulatory speech to send off the graduates.

The symbol with the lion and gryphon will be displayed on the new costumes of drummers who will open the ceremonial part of the event. The song “Goodbye, SUSU”, performed by the Ladies Band vocal group, will finish the unforgettable event for graduates and guests.
