Strengthening of International Relations of ISSH Literature Scholars: a Report by SUSU Professor Presented in Barcelona

From June 20th through 22nd, and International Conference of Russian language specialists was held at the University of Barcelona, where Professor of the SUSU ISSH Department of Russian Language and Literature, Doctor of Sciences (Philology) Tatiana Fedorovna Semyan presented a report on the topic representing the sphere of research of the Department’s scientific school: “Visual nature of modern literature: from typography to media poetry”.

Organizers of the Conference delegated Tatiana Fedorovna as a Chairman of the section of Modern Russian Literature, where reports were presented by scientists from Germany, Russia and Kazakhstan. The Conference also brought together researchers from universities of Zurich, Geneva, Granada, Maryland, and other universities, with a number of which the Department of Russian Language and Literature maintains scientific relations.

The importance of participation in such scientific events is obvious; this is not just determined by the opportunity to present results of one’s own relevant up-to-date research. This is the possibility of further promotion of SUSU in international rankings, strengthening of the university’s positions as of one of the leaders in the sphere of humanities. According to Professor Tatiana Semyan, in the course of the Conference’s operation, scientists from different countries not only presented their reports on topical issues of the contemporary philology, but also discussed prospects of cooperation between the universities. With Assistant Professor of the University of Zurich Olga Burenina-Petrova we confirmed our intention to publish proceedings on the results of the joint student online conference dedicated to absurd in literature and  movies; agreed on cooperation of electronic issues of SUSU’s Divan (Couch) and the Department of Slavonic Studies of the University of Zurich’s SlavicumPress; with Professor Kornelia Ichin we discussed prospects for partnership with the Faculty of Philology of the University of Belgrade.
