Excellent Internship: SUSU Students Create Plots for STS-Chelyabinsk Television Channel

Students of Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities do practical work on STS-Chelyabinsk television channel as journalists. The television channel has been cooperating with SUSU for several years. Students of different years of study do an internship there and many of them work with the channel not for the first year.

STS-Chelyabinsk PR-manager Aleksandr Kazantsev told what kind of work the trainees do.

“The trainees face different tasks depending on the direction chosen by a trainee. Journalists work in an information department, they learn how to create news shows, and they observe the way topics for the plots are invented, the way plots are worked out, whom to choose for synchrone and for the picture. I think that such an experience can be very useful in future. Second direction which we can suggest for the students is public relations. Lately our trainees tried their hands in promotional activities. We held a badminton championship where they excellently showed themselves. Except for participating in events they were to assess in a written form our television channel special projects. It was important for us to obtain an outside view and opinion of young journalists.”

Student of Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities Kseniya Glinina told about importance of summer internship.

“I have already worked on television in SUSU and I wanted to continue getting experience in this direction. I wanted to learn what an entertainment channel is and how they create news. My internship consists in finding news topics and sometimes in writing the plots.  Also I have already attended shooting but just as an observer. We saw the way the editor’s office work. Every day we get new impressions and knowledge on STS television channel.”

Kseniya’s coursemate Ekaterina Bazhenova also undergoes a practical training on the television channel.

“I have chosen to undergo an internship at STS-Chelyabinsk because I wanted to try myself in something new. My work consisted in writing the texts, assembling, participating in shootings, and search of information for plots. I learnt to work in team and quickly write texts which comply with the type of entertainment channel. I liked the internship: had useful time and learnt a lot.”

An internship will last till august. Students have enough time to gain invaluable experience.
