Digital Epoch of Future: International Scientific Forum on Industry 4.0 Came to End at SUSU

The third day of the 2018 Global Smart Industry scientific forum ended up with the nine sections, which were devoted to the discussion of digital industry opportunities.

Each section presented six speakers; overall more than 50 scientific reports were presented. The topics of the sections were: “New Educational Technologies for Industry 4.0”, “Security and Protection of Information in the Industrial Networks”, “Fundamental Science in Industry 4.0”, “Technologies of the Digital Twins”, “Cloud and High-Performance Computing for Smart Manufacturing, “Monitoring the State of Technical Equipment”, “Big Data, Machine Learning and Digital Intelligence in Industry 4.0”, “Industrial Robotics”, and “Wireless Sensor Networks”.

“Purpose of the conference consisted in determination of perspectives of digital industry development. In their reports, the speakers spoke on the future of the digital industry. The most interesting is that all manufacturing facilities (motors, mills, presses and so on) will have their digital twins. These digital twins unite into an integrated system: there will be created the virtual technological models, virtual manufacturing workshop models, and then the whole plant models. They will help to make optimal decisions while searching for the new configurations of equipment as well as its fault detection what will contribute to full economic benefit. These are the basic features of digital production of the near future,” notes Vice-Rector for Informatization of SUSU Leonid Sokolinsky.

The senior teacher of the Department of Developmental Psychology and Age-Related Counseling of Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities of SUSU Yulia Dmitrieva reported in the section “New Educational Technologies for Industry 4.0”. She presented a report on the subject of “Formation of Project Groups on the Basis of Modelling the Resources of Innovative Leadership as the Educational Technology for Industry 4.0”.

“The project, which I presented, is the result of the many years’ investigations of the scientific group under the direction of Vera Gryazeva-Dobshinskaya. At the very beginning, we worked with the innovative enterprises and there appeared the problems connected with innovations implementation such as staff antagonism, failure to accept the innovations. These problems are very urgent today too in the epoch of digitalization. The suggested variants of solutions consist in the choice of certain approach to the education of managers with the aim of optimal teaching strategy development with an account of psychological and social characteristics of managers.”

One more speaker of the educational sections was Head of Department of Theoretical Basics of Electrical Engineering of Institute of Engineering and Technology of SUSU Sergey Gandzha. In his report “Application of Digital Twins Technology for the Analysis of Valve Machines with Axial Flux”, he spoke on the reasons of computer-aided design systems popularity as well as their effectiveness.

“We deal with digital transformation. This is a system, which manages certain elements. It should manage them in such a way that the high efficiency lasts long. However, if the elements are of the low quality the necessary result will not be achieved. It is very important to make all the elements safe, optimal and energy efficient. That is why computer-aided design systems solve this task.”

Professor of Department of Electric Power Generation Stations, Networks and Supply Systems of Institute of Engineering and Technology Evgeny Solomin acted as a moderator in the section “Monitoring the State of Technical Equipment”. He told on the benefit of the conference held at South Ural State University.

“The subject of the digital industry today is the hottest new trend that is why this conference became very useful and significant today for us. This is an international conference, which is as large-scale as the conferences held in the biggest cities of the world. Moreover, our scientists present such interesting developments and discoveries, which we, the colleagues, did not even know. Consequently, this conference became very useful for all of us. And if it can be said so we are scientifically excited by this conference!”

In the section “Wireless Sensor Networks” Associate Professor of Department of Information Communication Technology of School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of SUSU Aleksandr Kazimirov addressed with a report. In the frames of his report, Aleksandr Nikolaevich spoke on the peculiarities of network structure, which performs the objects monitoring. Such a network structure should cover the whole space of monitoring so that no one point of the space where the structure operates was not noticed.

«Nowadays the whole world is searching for the ways to decrease the level of power consumption. It is well-known that the natural objects are the most power saving and this level is not achieved yet by the technical means. However, the decrease of power consumption by means of separate sensor nodes is possible. The concept of sensor networks has appeared relatively long ago. The sensors have to possess the possibility to transfer and accept the information as well as interaction with the external environment. They form a self-organizing system, which will function independently. This is a concept of “smart dust”. Sensor networks will make the revolution in the world, which earlier happened with the computers in the systems of management.”

Among the forecasts which were spoken in the scientific reports, the following points became the most popular: in the near future the effectiveness of manufacture will completely depend on the “digital twins”, which manage the manufacture on the whole; the development of sensor networks, which will be used not just in the manufacture but the other spheres as well, will allow achieving serious results in the digital industry. Nowadays the key directions of digitalization are actively developing and the results of the international scientific forum work proved that the world is ready to cross the threshold into the new epoch – Industry 4.0.
