Opening of the SUSU Association of International Alumni Took Place on the Occasion of the University’s Anniversary

On December 13, opening of the SUSU Association of International Alumni took place at South Ural State University. Rector of SUSU, Aleksandr Shestakov, started the event with a welcoming speech.

“Today the university is fulfilling an important mission by opening the Association of International Alumni. The university will always operate; and you, in turn, while working in your countries, will be remembering the university: the way you studied and lived here, the way you were getting familiar with Russian culture. The connection between you all should not break. I would like to wish you be successful in your countries after graduation and preserve the warm feelings for our university and for Russia.”

International alumni, just like the Russian ones, aspire to maintain connections with Russian universities and with Russia in general. In this regard, upon an initiative of the SUSU International Office and the Association of International Students of South Ural, today the SUSU Association of International Alumni has been established.

The opening of the Association of International Alumni at South Ural State University was visited by the President of the World Alumni Association, Vladimir Chetiy, who talked about activity of the Association.

“We are establishing an Alumni Association which in the future is going to become a foundation for interaction between the university and an alumnus. Naturally, we are going to use all possible means of communication: phone calls, emails, social networks – so that the scope of alumni was much bigger. Of course, alumni keep in touch with the university, constantly contacting their lecturers and professors. Each alumnus has one’s own favourite lecturer and this is good because this is exactly a kind of a thread that connects an alumnus with the university.”

Association of International Alumni is intended to keep in touch with the university, carry out exchange of experience, and implement professional and creative potential. Membership in the Association allows staying connected with the university and provides the possibility to stay up-to-date on current achievements of the university.

“The benefit of our cooperation is huge. Alumni are the face of the university. South Ural State University is a quite well-known university and it shows good results in rankings on quality of education; it is in demand, so students from abroad want to come and study at your university. Our mission is to help international students to make the right choice, to choose your university. And we hope to establish interaction with the alumni so that they kept supporting their Alma Mater, didn’t forget it and came here already as participants of scientific conferences or maybe as lecturers,” says Vladimir Chetiy.

The main goal of the Association of Alumni’s activity is to form a corporate philosophy and a system of values of the university’s alumni. Membership in the Association is available for any international student who got a degree upon graduation of South Ural State University.

“For any large university, keeping in touch with alumni is part of a very large-scale work. Alumni are not just former students of our university but also future employers, agents of Russian education abroad. The fact that we are signing a contract with the World Alumni Association once again proves that we are moving in the right direction. I think this will significantly accelerates our university’s development in the sphere of international activity,” says Head of the International Student Support, Ekaterina Yurovskaya.

Besides, even living in their home countries, international alumni could not disregard their Alma Mater and sent a video with greetings on the occasion of SUSU’s 75th anniversary.

The ceremony of opening the Association of International Alumni was consolidated by ceremonious signing of a contract between the Rector of SUSU, Aleksandr Shestakov, and the President of the World Alumni Association, Vladimir Chetiy.
