SUSU Academics Take Part in Creating the “Basics of the Digital Evidence Theory”

The Department of Law Enforcement and National Security of the SUSU Institute of Law represented by its head, Doctor of Sciences (Law) Sergey Zuev has initiated the preparation and publishing of the “Basics of the Digital Evidence Theory” book.

This new project was fulfilled as part of the program on enhancing the competitiveness of our university among the world’s leading educational centres in the “science” section, as well as following the vector on mastering digital transformations, which had been adopted by SUSU. The team of authors also included representatives of Bauman Moscow State Technical University, The Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of the Russian Federation; The Ural State Law University; Saratov State Law Academy; Perm State University; and Ulyanovsk State University.

The main provisions of the digital evidence theory were for the first time described in this scientific paper. The authors managed to define consolidating ideas, and elaborate general approaches to solving inter-industry problems of theory and practice, having created a comprehensive picture of the current situation in the system of electronic litigation. The works defined the general-legal, methodological, ideological, technological, as well as sector-related fields for further scientific research, as well as the ways of searching for new legislative initiatives, theoretical wordings and postulates used in the judicial practice.

The authors considered general inter-industry issues of the proceedings digitalization, as well as particular criminalistical, state-legal, administrative, criminal-procedure, and civil-procedure aspects of using digital evidence.

The book is intended for research fellows, academics, postgraduates (adjuncts) and students (cadets) of law faculties and universities, for law-enforcement staff, investigators, prosecutors, judges, as well as for all those interested in the modern issues of proceedings.

“Basics of the Digital Evidence Theory” is a unique work and one of the projects being fulfilled under a promising scientific field of the Department of Law Enforcement and National Security on the development of information technologies in the activity of law enforcement authorities.
