The British Consul Handed Certificates to Graduates of SUSU’s MBA Centre

Graduates of the MBA Centre at South Ural State University’s School of Economics and Management received certificates of the Open University of Great Britain.

The event took place in the frameworks of a visit by Consul-General of the United Kingdom of Great Britain in Yekaterinburg, Mr. Richard Dewell and the Second Secretary, Vice-Consul of the British Embassy in Moscow, Osmanjuwa Kpogho.

Rector of SUSU, Aleksandr Shestakov, congratulated students on completion of their study on the first level of a programme entitled “Management in Action”.

“The knowledge that you acquired will help you move on professionally. This knowledge is a social elevator; they came of use for many people. I used to study there myself; I spent a year studying the course of Efficient Management, and that helped me in my further work as a Vice-Rector.”

Consul-General of the United Kingdom of Great Britain in Yekaterinburg, Mr. Richard Dewell affirms that a degree obtained at the Open University of Great Britain is recognized all over the world. Moreover, students became part of a network of the University’s alumni, which is beneficial for them.

“It was a big honor for me today to hand certificates on completion of the Open University’s business programme together with the Rector. It is interesting for me as I myself have graduated from the Open University. Getting this certificate means that students worked really well, as the major part of study is targeted at independent study of material. This gives a chance to fulfill one’s potential.”

Over the entire history of the Open University of Great Britain, students from more than 100 countries got a degree there. All students have a chance to choose level-based education which allows acquiring only the necessary knowledge.

Associate Professor at the Department of Management of the School of Economics and Management, senior tutor at the Open University of Great Britain, Marina Sokolova, told us about specificities of study on the Management in Action programme.

“The programme has existed for a long time; it is a multi-level programme, and a person who wants to get a degree is the one who chooses which levels to study. The person can either complete education on one level or complete the entire programme or selectively study several levels. Upon results of completion of each course, students receive a certificate on obtained education and, of course, they acquire knowledge, skills and abilities. After the Management in Action programme, students have a chance to pass to the next level called ‘Strategy’, where they study strategic marketing, strategic human resource management, knowledge management and economics, and work on their diploma projects.”

Dentist Natalia Kalala completed the course of Management in Action and became one of those awarded with certificates of the Open University of Great Britain.

“I came to study in the MBA Centre in order to understand components of a business and its organization. Many dentists start their own business but can’t take into account all factors that affect the success of this business. I liked the study by the fact that theory gets combined with practice. We applied the acquired knowledge in our job: we choose an initiative project and developed it in accordance with our specialty.

I liked the study therefore I passed to the new level called ‘Strategy’. In the future, I’m going to go further and complete all courses!”

MBA Centre of SUSU provides practice-based education to those setting a high bar. Knowledge, acquired in the result of studying, form a strong background for development of a company, business or one’s own life. Those who completed the programme efficiently use the acquired knowledge and skills to solve current practical and strategic production problems.
