The Department of Customs Affairs: “FOR the Green Chelyabinsk!”

On May 21, the Department of Customs Affairs took part in planting of trees alongside the Universitetskaya Naverezhnaya street in the frameworks of Tsellyuloza (Cellulose) social city project. According to participation terms, a tree shall be planted in Chelyabinsk for each 100 kg of paper wastes collected.

Academic staff and students of the Department of Customs Affairs hold an active civil position and have been supporting the project since 2018. Due to our common efforts, participants collected their first 100 kilos of paper wastes and planted their first tree on behalf of the Department!

Despite the cold and windy weather, senior lecturer Lyayla ilyinskaya and a 2nd-year student Roman Usoltsev got equipped with a shovel and the transplants. Together with representatives of educational institutions, commercial organisations and with residents of the neighboring houses they took active participation in planting of more than 150 black poplars in one of the districts of Chelyabinsk. This tree species growth for 1 meter each year, therefore, city residents soon will be able to admire a new green alley.

It is such a responsible attitude and fair share of contribution that help making our city cozier and eco-friendlier.
