Specialists in the Sphere of Advertising and Public Relations Meet SUSU Enrollees

Within the university’s admissions campaign, SUSU ISSH’s Department of Journalism and Mass Communication arranged a meeting between enrollees and a representative of the advertising and PR market of Chelyabinsk, Head of the Advertising Department at Pervoe Vystavochnoe Obyedineniye (first Exhibition Association) LLC, Maria Gerdler, who introduced son-to-be students with professional peculiarities of specialists in the sphere of integrated communications.

“Modern advertisers are interested in cooperation with general duty specialists, who possess the skills of developing an advertising product, brand design, account administration in social media, filling the content of a corporate website, multimedia product development (longread, lending), the ability to interact with contemporary mass media and arrange events of various scale and level,” said Maria Gerdler.

These are exactly the knowledge and competencies being acquired by SUSU students majoring in Advertising and Public Relations at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. In the frameworks of project-based learning, which is being implemented at the Department’s educational process, students have a unique opportunity to interact with real companies, acting as ordering customers of communication projects, for acquisition of the necessary professional experience while still being the university students. In the new academic year, students are going to work on a project entitled “Enterprise Promotion”.

“Professional activity of a contemporary specialist in advertising and public relations is carried out under conditions of dynamically changing communication reality,” noted Candidate of Sciences (Pedagogy), a member of the Russian Public Relations Association, Associate Professor Irina Lychagina. “Therefore, our students learn the specificities of information technology’s introduction supported by Big Data and collaboration of various spheres of knowledge, as well as by a penetration of interactive technologies into personalized and address communications with a client, transformation of data carriers, etc. Our Department has unique laboratories and advanced equipment which allows us to perform training of specialists corresponding with the time requirements.”

Enrollees took part in a dialogue with specialists in the sphere of integrated communications; they were actively asking questions and talking about their future profession. In this friendly communication atmosphere, all the present reviewed creative works of students majoring in Advertising and Public Relations at the SUSU ISSH Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, took part in a game contest in advertising, and received commemorative prizes with the corporate logo of SUSU.
