On August 8th, a meeting was held at South Ural State University between Rector Aleksandr Shestakov and Chairman of the Board of Directors of LLC “Holding Company” Pigment” Gennady Agafonov, Saint Petersburg, which resulted in signing an agreement on collaboration.
Currently, “Pigment” is the leader among major chemical manufacturers of paints and varnishes in Russia. The company’s structure comprises research-and-development and design institutes, and plants, which manufacture the products.
The contract signing was preceded by negotiations on doing joint research in various fields, including protective coatings, held with the participation of SUSU President German Vyatkin, Vice-Rector for Research Aleksandr Diakonov, Head of the Research and Innovation Services Anton Korzhov, Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry Viacheslav Avdin, Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Materials Science and Physics and Chemistry of Materials Dmitry Zherebtsov , and Senior Research Fellow at Nanotechnology Research and Education Centre Denis Vinnik.
SUSU Rector Aleksandr Shestakov explained that in order to succeed in fulfilling the tasks of the Materials Science strategic scientific field, our university needs to collaborate with the leading companies in this sector.
“Among the strategic tasks of our university development is the strengthening of its contacts with the industry. For us to be able to successfully fulfil projects within the Materials Science scientific field, filing joint applications to contests and to obtain grants, as well as to train highly qualified personnel, our university is striving to collaborate with the leading companies in Russia. One of such companies is our strategic partner, “Holding Company” Pigment”,” noted SUSU Rector Aleksandr Shestakov.
The signed collaboration agreement will allow to conduct joint research, engineer and master new technologies.
