Young People from South Ural Region to Take Part in Master Classes on Extreme Sports

A SUSU student Ekaterina Kartavykh has won a grant at Baikal forum and begins work within it. The project of Katalitsa Educational Social and Sports Marathon is devoted to the problems of ecology and involving young people into active work.

The forum gathers together active and athletic youth of our region at master classes and educational lectures. Volunteer clean-ups on the shore of Smolino lake, Shershni water reservoir, Peschanyi and Izumrudnyi open pits; master classes on wakeboarding, kitesurfing, scuba diving, rock climbing, and motorcross racing; as well as fitness training in groups, and lectures on environment-friendly waste disposal.

“Our goal is to make extreme sports more accessible to young people, and prove that you can spend time well outdoors within our city. For that, we need to clean suitable territories, and that’s what we do during the marathon. The widespread opinion that such sports are dangerous is wrong. Extreme sports are no more dangerous than contact sports, like football or basketball,” shares head of the project Ekaterina Kartavykh.

The first event will be held on August 12th. The program will include a volunteer clean-up on the shore of Smolino lake and a master class on kitesurfing. You can register by clicking this link: https://vk.cc/9FHuDS .

You can learn more about other master classes, lectures, dates and venues of holding them on the web page of Katalitsa project. Thanks to the fact that the marathon is being organized within the All-Russian Youth Projects Contest supported by Rosmolodezh Federal Agency for Youth Affairs and by the SUSU Trade Union Committee, all master classes are free of charge for the volunteer clean-up participants!

Katalitsa is a result of the cooperation of the SUSU Trade Union Committee and Sunny Valley mountain ski resort. Since the moment when the project was launched in 2010, over 15,000 students of vocational schools and universities from all over Chelyabinsk have become its participants.
