SUSU Won Two Medals at Agricultural Exhibition “Golden Autumn 2019”

South Ural State University presented its scientific projects at Russian Agricultural Exhibition “Golden Autumn 2019”. The university’s developments in the field of agricultural technologies were highly appreciated and awarded gold and silver medals.

Overall, the Chelyabinsk Region enterprises and organizations won 153 medals, 92 of which were gold medals, 46 silver medals, and 15 bronze medals. Not only high-quality food products of the South Ural agricultural complex, but also research, scientific-practical, and consulting projects in the field of agricultural complex were demonstrated.

A SUSU small innovative enterprise OOO UralGIS took part in the agricultural exhibition for the first time and presented its developments in two nominations: “For the Successful Introduction of Innovations in Agriculture” and “For Efficient Information and Consulting Support of the Agricultural Complex”. In the both nominations it was awarded gold and silver medals.

“The SUSU Geoinformation Systems Research and Education Centre project was awarded a medal for the development and introduction of information technologies. We presented two projects at the exhibition: Geoinformation System “UralGIS Region” and innovative land management technology. The projects are aimed at gaining reliable and up-to-date information about the Chelyabinsk Region land resources. Based on this amount of data, we will be able to obtain new information that will allow us to make the most correct management decisions. Data fusion, and inter-sector collaboration are needed for the rational use of land,” says Director of SUSU Geoinformation Systems Research and Education Centre Valentina Maksimova.

SUSU Geoinformation system is designed to unite all participants of the agricultural complex within the framework of a single digital platform, including farmers, major agricultural producers, and representatives of the Ministry of the region. All data is delivered to a single federal information system under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. This allows to rapidly take managerial tasks, rationally use land, and efficiently develop rural areas, ensuring valid interdepartmental interaction.

The second project includes innovative solutions in the field of agricultural complex. It is aimed at creating up-to-date land balance. The designed technology helps to see the location of each category of a land, including croplands, pastures, lands of industrial use, lands of settlements, etc. The introduction of such technology will provide the rational use of agricultural land within the framework of the sector digitalization.
