On November 22nd, the 13th International Youth Cooking Festival will be held at South Ural State University. This cooking event, which has already become a tradition, is held for school pupils of (forms 8 to 11) and students of secondary technical schools.
The festival is organized by SUSU, represented by the Department of Production Technology and Catering Organisation of the Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service, and is supported by the Ministry of Education and Science for the Chelyabinsk Region.
The festival program will feature five categories:
- Cooking and Class of Service;
- Confectionery;
- Art Design;
- Art Model; and
- International Cooking Traditions.
In 2019, for the first time, within the International Cooking Traditions category the opportunity to participate by correspondence will be provided for citizens of foreign countries living beyond the Russian Federation: the participants can cook their family-recipe specialties at home and send photos of themselves holding their dish accompanied with a short story (approx. 3,000 characters on how the family’s history is related to the dish) to the Organisation Committee.
The dishes will be assessed by a competent jury, which will comprise leading specialists and head of enterprises of the food industry and catering in Chelyabinsk.
For school pupils and students of secondary technical schools and vocational schools, the participation in this contest is not a mere chance to face off in cooking and confectionery. The 2020 graduates (11th-form school pupils and students of the senior years from vocational educational organisations) who participate in this contest and win prizes in the categories of Cooking and Class of Service, and Confectionery can be awarded additional points for personal achievements when enrolling in South Ural State University in 2020:
- 1st place – 5 points;
- 2nd place – 4 points;
- 3rd place – 3 points.
