A number of sport events for the academic and administrative staff and their families is taking place at South Ural State University. On December 15, “From GTO Stage to Elite Sport” Family Sport Festival will be held in the indoor athletic stadium of the SUSU Sport Complex.

The goal of the festival is to promote healthy lifestyle, involve the families of the SUSU academic staff in physical culture and sports, as well as to prepare for completing the All-Russian Sports Complex “Ready for Labour and Defence” standards.

Within the framework of the festival family team competitions will be held. A team may consist of three members: either one child (up to 17 years old) and two adults, or two children and an adult. These can be children, parents, grandchildren, and grandparents.

The festival will be opened with an exhibition performance by the children involved in the sport sections of SUSU Sport Complex. GTO all-around competitions among the SUSU families will include the following standards:

  • Push-ups;
  • Standing on a gymnastic bench bent forward with straight legs;
  • Raising the body from a supine position (number of takes per 1 min).

For adult members of the team it is allowed to replace one of the above standards with the shooting from electronic weapon, which is the GTO standards as well.

The festival will also host fun sport games. Every team may participate in one of the competitions:

  • Field hockey (with a volleyball ball). Family relay has 3 rounds, the team should put the ball with a club and score it;
  • Ski race. The team should go the entire distance using one pair of skis.

Another interesting competition during the festival is the mini-orienteering for children: the checkpoint will be set in the arena of the indoor athletic stadium, the participant should register his checkpoints by marking them with an electronic chip. Every adult group has its own distance.

For adults electronic weapon shooting competitions will be held, the participants should perform 3 test and 5 offset shots from a distance of 10 m.
