The field session is a logical conclusion of the preparatory session, which included practically-oriented training on frontend and backend development offered by expert lecturers and staff from IT companies. The session was attended by more than 70 students from various schools and institutes: the School of Economics and Management, the Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Sciences.

The participants of the school spent two unforgettable days at the Lesnoye Pomestye (Forest Estate) camp and combined the completion of their in-development applications with communication with the IT company representatives. The participants presented different solutions for tasks from partner companies: Applied Technologies, XPAGE, Intec, and the Chelyabinsk Regional Centre of Navigation and Information Technologies.

Based on their participation in the event, a team of 7 students was invited to develop the web resource Find the Hero of the Great Patriotic War, which will be fulfilled alongside the Chelyabinsk Regional Centre for Navigation and Information Technologies in honour of the 75th Anniversary of the end of the Great Patriotic War; and one of the Master’s students received a job offer.

During the field session, a Smart City hackathon was held. The students were divided into teams, then developed ideas for forming smart technologies in Chelyabinsk. More than 25 ideas were presented, from which the four best ones were chosen. As a result of their participation, 5 students were recommended and will be chosen to participate in the SUSU project and analysis session: Chelyabinsk, a Smart City.

Representatives of IT companies spoke before the participants: Director of the Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics A.A Zamyshlyaeva and project curator E.V. Bunova. The speakers also wished for the students to obtain new knowledge and improve their skills in project fulfilment.

The participants also included students who are semifinalists of the UMNIK contest, and they had a chance to rehearse their speech for their participation in the final of this contest. The students gained valuable recommendations from experts and IT company representatives on completing their projects.

We would like to say a big thank you to the students who inspired and organized this informative event!
