“From GTO Stage to Elite Sport”: SUSU to Hold Family Festival for University Administrative and Academic Staff

South Ural State University continues to hold a number of sport events for the university administrative and academic staff and their families. From GTO Stage to Elite Sport Family Sports Festival is to be held at the indoor athletic stadium of the Student Sports Complex on December 15th.

The festival is aimed at promoting healthy lifestyle, involving the SUSU administrative and academic staff family members into physical activity and sports, as well as training for GTO tests (Ready for Labour and Defence Physical Education Tests).

Family-team competitions will be held within the framework of the event. A team consists of three people: it is either one child (up to 17 years old) and two adults, or two children and one adult. Children, parents, grandchildren, grandparents can participate.

The festival will be opened by performances of children, who go to sports sections at the Student Sports Complex. The GTO multisport competitions among SUSU families will include fulfilment of the following standards:

  • arms bending and stretching in front plank;
  • bending forward from erect position on gymnastic bench;
  • lifting body from supine position (number of times in 1 min);

Adult members of the teams are allowed to switch one of the above-mentioned standards to GTO tests standards, i.e. shooting from electronic weapon.

Fun Starts are also to be held within the framework of the event. Each team can participate in one of the following contests:

  • Hockey with volleyball ball. Family relay for 3 stages, where team needs to score by moving the ball with a stick into the goal;
  • Ski racing. Team needs to go the entire distance on one pair of skis.

Another interesting competition in course of the festival will be mini-orienteering for children: player takes his KP at the checkpoints on the arena and marks it with an electronic chip. Each age group goes its own distance.

Adults will be competing in shooting from electronic weapon contest. Each participant is to perform 3 test and 5 valid shots from 10 m distance.

All festival participants are to receive certificates. Teams, winners, and prize winners are to be awarded diplomas and prizes.
