South Ural Association of International Students Celebrates its 6th Anniversary

On December 23rd, the South Ural Association of International Students is celebrating 6 years since its founding. As a gift to international students, the association has planned a number of celebratory events, which will wrap up with a party.

“Over the course of the month we are expecting a rich program; we’ll begin with a photo contest and a number of volunteer events for children. Right now we are preparing presents for children from orphanages and we are planning on visiting them, and we will provide an entertaining musical program, contests, and games. The celebration of our birthday will end with a party in a club,” said the AIS president Uvindu Wijeweera.

The first event will begin on December 16th, when all of the activists of the Association of International Students will gather. Per tradition, the international students will cook their national dishes and bake a cake in the shape of SUSU. Everyone who wishes to congratulate the AIS can do so by writing their messages down and leaving them in special boxes in dormitory No.3 or in the Sigma building. On the anniversary of the AIS, the boxes will be opened and the well-wishings will be read out loud.

On December 22nd, all of SUSU’s international students will gather for the final party at a club, which will combine celebration of the AIS anniversary and the coming new year. The party will include a concert, where international students will show the audience their prepared performances. The audience can also expect dancing, games, and a lottery. Every invitation will also serve as a lottery ticket.

In addition, the AIS is launching a photo contest called “What’s it Like in Russia?”; all international students can participate by posting a photo on Instagram about their life in Russia with the hashtag “#деньрожденияаис”. At the end of the contest, the AIS will choose 10 winners and present them gifts.
