SUSU International Students Took Part in Winter Activities

Getting acquainted with Russian culture and being immersed into an active lifestyle outside of education play a very important role in the adaptation of international students. So, as per tradition, winter activities were organized for them in 2020.

Each year, the Sociocultural Adaptation Centre organizes outdoor winter activities for SUSU’s international students. In December of last year, students already visited the Sunny Valley ski resort, where they learned to snowboard and ski. This was a totally new experience for nearly all of the students. In January and February, the Sociocultural Adaptation Centre is planning two more visits to the ski resort, because the students really enjoyed the trip in December.

In January 2020, SUSU international students visited the ice rink in the Yu. Gagarin Park. Volunteers from the Sociocultural Adaptation Centre actively helped them overcome their fears and stand on the ice. In just 20 minutes, the students were skating confidently on their ice skates.

Another fun activity for the international students was tubing. The SUSU Sociocultural Adaptation Centre is organizing trips to Lazurny settlement for the fourth year in a row. This time, around 35 students from China, Senegal, Egypt, Iraq, and other countries participated in the event. In the near future, the organizers are planning one more tubing trip.
