Currently, 246 students from Tajikistan are obtaining education at SUSU in all types of study: Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree and Postgraduate programmes. The most popular fields of training and specialities among students from Tajikistan are: Management, Metallurgy, Construction, Economics, Electric Power Industry and Electric Engineering, Jurisprudence, and International Relations.

Husrav Ganjov arrived from Dushanbe and has completed studies at the SUSU Institute of Linguistics and International Communications. Today, he is a graduate of the Department of International Relations and Regional Studies. Husrav shares his emotions about the educational process at the university.

– Why did you choose the International Relations speciality at SUSU?

– I have always liked History and International Relations. From my school years, I have been engaging in Politics, that is why I chose my speciality a long time ago. This field requires deep knowledge of the topic and constant development.

– You are a member of the International Students Association. What do you do?

– I help other international students, including my compatriots, who encounter difficulties in various spheres. I explain what to do in this or that situation, where to apply documents at, how to extend registration at the place of stay. I always try to help students. Moreover, we organized traditional national holidays and sports games.

– What events did you participate in? What do you remember the most?

– SUSU organizes many events: Day of Arab Culture, Chinese New Year, Day of African Culture, Tea Ceremony, Indian holidays…I saw this only on TV! And here I have an opportunity to see it with my own eyes and become a part of these events, to participate in them. The Central Asian spring holiday of Nowruz I like the most, it is very popular in Tajikistan and other countries in Asia. You begin feeling proud of yourself when you represent your country, get people acquainted with its culture, history and traditions. On the Independence Day of Tajikistan we went on a trip to Tyumen. We also participated in the 21st Century Leader Youth Project in Rostov.

– Did you face any difficulties during the period of studying?

– No. I did not have any problems while I was studying. I cannot remember any negative moments, to be honest. The most important thing is a positive attitude. I am graduating from the university with optimism because I understand that it is only the beginning.

– What goals did you set, and what did you achieve?

– I have achieved my primary goal. I wanted to obtain good education and I did it. The next goal is to enrol in the Master’s degree programme. And start to build a career in my speciality.

– Did the training at the university somehow change you?

– I have made friends from various corners of the planet. We are still communicating even with those, who had graduated from the university earlier than I did. Here I have proven myself as a student, as a leader. I have achieved a lot thanks to the university. SUSU is a place which helps students to develop and opens new doors for them.

South Ural State University is a participant of Project 5-100 aimed at enhancing competitiveness and recognition of the university in the world.
