Second Day of Global Smart Industry Conference Wrapped up at SUSU

The three-day Global Smart Industry Forum continues its work at South Ural State University. On the second day of the global conference, world experts in the field of digital technologies took part in the plenary session and online sections.

During the day two of the conference, experts from Russia, Germany, and India spoke online at the plenary session and presented their projects on the digitalization of industrial enterprises, including metallurgical ones.

Pino Tese, President of the SMS Group Corporation, Germany, spoke about digital solutions and examples of their application in the metallurgical industry in his report.

“SUSU already has a laboratory that operates jointly with the SMS Group company and its work is aimed at the production line, which is directly related to the repair and restoration of metallurgical equipment. It develops technologies, methods of repair and restoration of metallurgical parts of machines and mechanisms. We are actively cooperating with the SMS Group, which serves about 80% of metallurgical enterprises that use their equipment today," shared Marina Samodurova, Professor of the Department of Metal Forming.

Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works has been at the forefront of the Russian industry in terms of the use of information technologies for the last fifteen years. In his report the head of the digital office of the company Danila Tselikanov emphasized the need for cooperation between universities and industrial enterprises in order to develop new digital technologies to solve everyday production problems.

Later in the day, a discussion of the achievements in the digital industry was held within four sections on the following topics:

  • Virtual and Augmented Realities for Industry 4.0
  • Cybersecurity in Digital Industry
  • Sensors and Their Components
  • Cloud and High-performance Computing for Smart Factory
