SUSU Students Win the All-Russian Student Olympiad on Life Safety

April 16th through 18th of 2018, the 3rd (final) stage of the All-Russian Student Olympiad on Life Safety was held at Bauman Moscow State Technical University. The SUSU team won in the individual and team competitions.

14 teams from various Russian cities took part in the finals – more than 40 people in total. The final was held in two stages:

Environment-friendly Magnesite Concrete Is Being Developed at SUSU

Current development of science and engineering inevitably affects the environment; the interaction of human beings and nature is especially visible in ecological problems caused by the mining industry. In the process of natural resources mining, tailings are generated during preparation and treatment and then forwarded to dumping sites. The scientists of South Ural State University are solving the problem of disposal of such magnesium-containing waste by using it as raw materials for production of magnesite concrete.

Exhibition of Student Scientific and Technical Creativity Opens at SUSU

On April 25th an opening ceremony was held at the SUSU Science and Technologies of the South Ural Exhibition Center for the annual Exhibition of Scientific and Technical Creativity of South Ural State University Students.

New Practical Shooting Ground Opens at SUSU Shooting Range

SUSU Shooting Range has been functioning at South Ural State University for several years now. In April of 2018 a new training ground for practical shooting was opened.

SUSU Students Become Prize Winners of the All-Russian Olympiad on Hydraulic Drive

On April 14th—17th a Hydraulic Drive Designing Olympiad was held in Yekaterinburg as part of the 16th Ural Mining Decade on Innovations as Key Factor of Regional and International Cooperation Development.

The event held at South Ural State University was supported by the Russian Federation Ministry of Education and Science, and the Sverdlovsk Region Administration.

Chelyabinsk to Hold the Final Show of Student Mister and Miss of the Chelyabinsk Region 2018

Friday, April 27th, the finals of the regional contest of beauty, creativity, sports and intellect Student Mister and Miss of the Chelyabinsk Region 2018 will be held in Chelyabinsk.

 

Study Issues of International Students Discussed at SUSU

A roundtable discussion entitled “Topical issues of international students’ studying in a mixed classroom” was held at South Ural State University.

The event was organized by the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language of the Institute of Linguistics and International Communication, the Center for Sociocultural Adaptation and the International Affairs Division.

A participant of the conference, Associate Professor of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language, Elena Doronina, explained the goal of holding the roundtable discussion.

On April 9th through 12th, the 14th International Student Olympiad in Theoretical Mechanics took place at Belarusian State University of Transport in the city of Gomel.

SUSU Students Got Introduced to Free From Food Production Technology

On Saturday, April 21, a master class on innovative technologies in the field of bakery and pastry production was held at the SUSU School of Medical Biology. Students got introduced to Free From products.

“Today me and the students cooked gluten-free bread and muffins, non-yeasted buns and cheese buns which combine flour-free, non-yeasted and gluten-free production,” said Leonid Pervukhin, process engineer of IREKS – a company that became famous due to production of high-quality baking ingredients.

Days of History will be held at the SUSU Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities April 25th through 27th of 2018. Students and guests of the Faculty of History and all those interested in history can feel themselves part of the world of the past during these three event-packed days.

SUSU Performs Elite Training of Law Students

South Ural State University has been training highly qualified specialists in the sphere of jurisprudence for 25 years already. Nowadays the Institute of Law has 8 departments. The institute has a strong material and technical base which allows performing the training of students at a high level: it includes Criminal Laboratory, Forensic Laboratory, Expert Technologies REC, and Legal Clinic.

“A Book Is a Carrier of Soul” – Elena Ponomareva on the World Book Day

April 23rd is a symbolic date for the world literature, so due to this fact it became the World Book and Copyright Day. This was the day when Miguel de Cervantes, William Shakespeare, and Inca Garsilaso de la Vega passed away in 1616. Director of the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities Elena Ponomareva shares on important books and authors, the world’s book capital, and the luxury of hard-copy books.

SUSU Team – Winners of the 14th International Student Olympiad on Theoretical Mechanics

The 14th International Student Olympiad on Theoretical Mechanics was held at Belarusian State University of Transport in Gomel on April 9th-12th. 140 students participated in the Olympiad – the best representatives of 32 universities from Belarus, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, China, and Turkmenistan.

Exchange Program Students from Kazakhstan Visited SUSU

South Ural State University offers programs for student exchange. Under one of such programs the university was visited by students from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The students share on why they decided to participate in this program, what lectures they attended, and whether or not this trip was helpful to them.

SUSU Staff Took Part in a Congress of Young Researchers Council

From 10th through 12th of April, a Congress of the Council of Young Researchers and Specialists of the Ural, Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts was held in Krasnoyarsk.

Researchers and specialists from more than 15 regions of Russia took part in the Congress. South Ural State University’s Council of Young Scientists was represented by Alisa Maltseva, Associate Professor of the Department of Developmental Psychology and Age Related Counseling.

Victory Walz Rehearsals Started at SUSU

Victory Waltz dance flashmob dedicated to one of the main holidays in our country, Victory Day, has become a traditional event for South Ural State University. Usually students from two faculties: the Faculty of Military Education and the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities were the event participants. This year students from all institutes and schools will be dancing on the square in front of the main university building to show their gratitude to the veterans of the Great Patriotic War and to honour their memory.

Winners of the Research Grant Contest Held by PG Metran AO are Announced

On April 18 of 2018, research projects of students, postgraduates and young scientists of SUSU were presented at PG Metran AO.

In 2018 South Ural State University is celebrating its 75th Anniversary. The history of our university has seen many interesting events and facts. It is no surprise that not one generation of Chelyabinsk residents has obtained higher education here over the long period of the university’s existence. Some of those people chose science and teaching as their family profession.
