One of the most groundbreaking fields of the 21st century world science is studying of nanoparticles. Development of nanotechnologies allows to find best solutions for the most topical and problem sectors: medicine, electronics, optics, space exploration and many others. This is one of the priority tasks for the Institute of Natural Sciences of South Ural State University.
Senior Professor at the SUSU Department of Electronic Computing Machines Sergey Syaskov became the first Russian athlete awarded the title of a super-cyclist for the sixth time within the period of two years. Moreover, he won over 80 medals in marathons held according to the rules of the French international cycling club ACP (Audax Club Parisien – “Parisian Club of the Audacious”), and was awarded with a Certificate of Appreciation by the Minister of Education and Science for the Chelyabinsk Region.
Obtaining new compounds is one of the most important fields of organic chemistry today. At present finding solutions to the problems of medicine and pharmacology is especially important. Researchers from South Ural State University are searching for compounds with potential biological activity.
Development of new highly efficient equipment in power engineering, metallurgy, space, military and some other branches of industry is connected with the problem of exploitation of materials on the edge of their capabilities. In other words, under conditions of increased temperature and significant plastic deformations. Understanding of physical regularities and constructing authentic mathematical models of material deformation in such conditions is a quite difficult but accomplishable task for scientists who study properties of heat-resistant alloys.
Professor Anton Korzhov of the Polytechnic Institute Department at South Ural State University developed solutions for enhancing reliability of cable lines. A Happy New Year corporate video contest in which schools and institutes of our university participated took place at South Ural State University.
Over December, students and teaching staff worked over a special contest task – to shoot creative New Year greetings video which would express the holiday atmosphere and corporate spirit of the SUSU schools and institutes.
A unique project by a SUSU small innovative enterprise opened in Chelyabinsk. Snezhitsa is a complex where by means of the augmented reality technologies snow can be transformed into the Earth surface with lakes and mountains, volcanoes and valleys, into an ocean full of fish, a treasure trove, or surface of the mysterious Mars.
The Laboratory of Composite Materials will open at South Ural State University on December 29th at 12:00.
The Laboratory of Composite Materials was organized and operating at South Ural State University since 2012. It appeared as a result of the reorganization of the “Composite Materials and Constructions” Research and Education Center. Now, the laboratory is part of Research and Development Institute “Mechanical Engineering” and its research has both theoretical and practical importance.
On December 22nd, the Contest Committee formed by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science summed up the results of the selection stage on choosing recipients of state support for centers of the National Technological Initiative for Universities and Scientific Organizations. Six research and development institute centers of excellence were chosen, four of which are at universities, and two – at scientific organizations.
Globalization, which at present has captured all sides of life and opened unique opportunities for intercultural communication for the modern world, gives societies the challenges of organizing interaction between partner countries. Today, 32,000 students study at SUSU, among them more than 2,000 international students from 48 countries, that is why for the university’s researchers and linguists it is important to find a point of contact between various cultures and religious denominations.

On the eve of this family holiday, we bid farewell to the expiring year and summarize its results. Annual accumulation of events and achievements is always unique, and we can assure: we have things to be proud of!
On December 25th a meeting was held at South Ural State University between the high-achieving students and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Alexander Anatolyevich Dyakonov.
On December 23, the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, addressed the plenary session of the United Russia political party 17th Congress. The Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Olga Vasilyeva, took part in the congress.
During his speech at the congress, Vladimir Vladimirovich noted the necessity to establish a new employment market and a flexible modern system of vocational training.
Improving technological processes is one of the topical issues of modern science. A jet blower designed by the scientists of South Ural State University may be used both as a pump and a mixing pump in aerospace, mechanical engineering, heat-and-power, construction and oil sectors of industry.
Foreign and Russian students of SUSU will take part in the celebration. In the program of the event: songs, dances, competitions and congratulations of the best students of the outgoing year.
On December 22, South Ural State University’s Power Engineering Faculty celebrated the 66th anniversary since its foundation day. On the same day, the Faculty celebrated a professional holiday – the Power Engineer’s Day.
An event on the occasion of two holidays at a time, the Power Engineer’s Day and the Faculty’s Birthday, was held at SUSU. Dean of the Power Engineering Faculty, Sergey Gandzha, delivered a welcoming speech.
“Music of Translation” contest, organized by the SUSU Department of International Relations and Regional Studies, wrapped up at SUSU. This year, the contest did not just include students from South Ural State University, but also from Chelyabinsk State University, Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, N.A. Dobrolyubov State Linguistic University of Nizhny Novgorod, V.I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University, and Ural Federal University named after the First President of Russia B.N. Yeltsin.
Joint work of South Ural State University and JSC SDB “Turbina” (a special design bureau, the only one in Russia and the nearabroad to be designing small gas-turbine engines and multifunctional gas-turbine power units) resulted in engineering of a line-up of 10 to 100 kW natural gas turbines in our country.
The scientists from South Ural State University are developing and manufacturing innovative educational and laboratory equipment, as well as software using 3D technologies. Using virtual educational equipment means that it is less expensive and more efficient to train top-ranked specialists.
