Today, 32,000 students study at SUSU, among them more than 2,000 international students from 48 countries, that is why for the university’s researchers and linguists it is important to find a point of contact between various cultures and religious denominations.

SUSU Scientists are Developing a Method for Obtaining Radiation-Resistant Nanocomposites

Creating new materials is one of the main areas of contemporary nanotechnologies. The most prioritized research goals include creating materials with preliminarily set properties. Scientists of South Ural State University developed a theoretical model which allows determining parameters of a nanocomposite with desired characteristics.

On December 13th the annual 5th Exhibition Forum “Vuzpromexpo 2017” opened in Moscow. Among the participants of the opening ceremony were First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Valentina Pereverzeva, heads of state enterprises and large industrial holdings, as well as rectors of the leading universities.

SUSU Becomes Bilingual: Employees of the Library, Personnel Department and Dormitories Study English

 

From December 6th through 12th, award ceremonies of issuing certificates confirming the study of intensive English course for professional purposes took place at SUSU. The documents were ceremoniously awarded to employees of SUSU dormitories, Personnel Department and Scientific Library.

SUSU Online: Official University Mobile App Updated

 

The majority of students are already using the official SUSU mobile app which has been operating for over four years already. Now, with the release of a new version and an update to the interface and design, using the application became even more comfortable and pleasant. The functions of the application include up-to-date schedule, recent news, a list of open jobs for students, and much more. The head of the project, SUSU student Alexander Berestov, told us about the idea for SUSU Online and the future plans for improving it.

SUSU Staff Studies English

 

Over two thousand students from China, Iraq, USA, Syria, Sri Lanka, Venezuela and other countries are studying today at South Ural State University. Most of them do not speak Russian, their language is the language of international communication – English.

ILIC Representatives Learned About Best Language Practices on a Conference at MISIS

 

SUSU delegation represented by Elena Yaroslavova (Acting Director of ILIC), Ksenia Volchenkova (Head of the Department of Foreign Languages), and Associate Professor at the Department of Linguistics and Translation Irina Stavtsevatook part in International Conference on ESP/EAP/EMI in the Context of Higher Education Internationalization. The conference was held at MISIS National University of Science and Technology on November 23 – 25, 2017.

SUSU Climbs Up in QS World University Rankings BRICS 2018

 

On November 22nd a new ranking was published by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) – QS World University Rankings BRICS 2018.

Among other things the QS ranking takes into account a university’s reputation among employers, ratio of teaching staff VS students, total amount of the published articles and number of citations.

Internationally-Known Scientist from the USA Will Deliver Lectures at SUSU

 

From November 24th through 28th, a series of lectures by Professor from the University of Central Florida Artem Masunov is to be held at SUSU.

In 2016, Professor Artem Eduardovich was invited to become Head of the SUSU world-class International Research Laboratory for Multiscale Modeling of Polyfunctional Compounds.

On November 16th the SUSU’s Center of Computer Engineering organized a training workshop on numerical modeling and computing the components of motor trucks’ driving axels for the design and manufacturing engineers of KAMAZ Group of Companies in Naberezhnye Chelny.

Valveless Pumps for Nuclear, Food and Medical Industries Are Being Designed at SUSU

 

Today, high-technology solutions allowing to upgrade production processes are in especially high demand. South Ural State University has something to offer for the existing demand. A valveless pump designed by the SUSU scientists is known for its high reliability, as well as for a smaller degree of damage that it might inflict on transmitted materials due to the absence of moving elements in its flow part. This innovation may find application in food, medical and nuclear industries.

Flights will Become Safer: Aircraft Engine of New Generation Gets Improved at the Center of Computer Engineering

 

A joint project realized in collaboration with the Perm Engines UEC is nearing its completion. The project started in August and is dedicated to developing a method of choosing optimal geometric parameters which ensure longevity of combustion chamber casing of an aircraft gas-turbine engine. And this means that flights of Russian aviation will become safer.

New Finances for Young Innovators: the Forward to Discoveries Contest Wrapped Up at SUSU

 

It is fashionable today to have a start-up. But a good idea is not enough for the viability of a start-up! Even the most well-thought-out innovative project needs consistent funding. The majority of young people who work on finding unique, innovative solutions don’t have time and energy to also search for investors. This is where the university helps. Information Day for International Students Held at SUSU

 

On October 25 of 2017, in the conference hall of South Ural State University’s Sigma academic building, the annual information day was held in three languages: Arabic, Chinese and English. The event was organizedspecially for international students and postgraduates of visa countries. The meeting was held by Head of the International Affairs Division Olga Yaroshenko.

The SUSU Laboratory of Experimental Mechanics Successfully Performs Testing for Science and Industry

 

The Laboratory of Experimental Mechanics, which today is a part of the Public Research Institute for Test Mechanical Engineering, was established in South Ural State University in 2013. The laboratory helps SUSU scientists to solve scientific and research problems, and also conducts complex tests for industrial enterprises of the Chelyabinsk region and Russia.

Center for Sociocultural Adaptation Creates Homelike Conditions for Foreign Students

 

Every year more and more students from different countries around the world choose South Ural State University for their higher education studies. Today over 2,000 students from 37 countries from around the globe are studying at SUSU in various specialties and fields. And in a little while new foreign students will come to study at our University. To help our foreign students adapt to life in Russia and studying in a Russian university, a Center for Sociocultural Adaptation was established at SUSU in 2016.
