Project 5-100

Project 5-100 or the Russian Academic Excellence Project is a Russian government program launched in May 2013. The project’s aim is to increase the role of the leading Russian universities in the global educational and research context and successfully compete with the world’s most prestigious universities by 2020. As a result of bolstering their academic and research reputation globally, these Russian universities should be recognized by world university rankings such as Quacquarelli Symonds, Times Higher Education and Academic Ranking of World Universities.

South Ural State University is among the 21 Russian universities participating in Project 5-100. The University’s performance is regularly assessed by the International Council and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. The University’s development strategy is thoroughly described in the Roadmap for the Competitiveness Enhancement Programme of South Ural State University. The main goal is to transform SUSU into SMART University, a platform for sustainable development of the region, and an important contributor to major advances in human knowledge, education, and research.

In 2018 South Ural State University entered QS World University Rankings for the first time. Every year, QS World University Rankings choose the best universities in the world on the basis of several criteria, such as academic and employer reputation, research quality, and the level of internationalization
