The Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service is a subdivision of National Research South Ural state University. The Institute unites all the best scientific, educational , sport and student traditions of SUSU.
The Institute was established at the end of February, 2013 and united the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, the Faculty of Service and Tourism, and the SUSU Student Sports Complex.
Students and postgraduates oriented at a professional career in the field of physical culture and sport, pedagogic education, tourism, hospitality, service, art of photography, who are planning on forming the space which surrounds people, are studying at the Institute.
Among academic staff who works with students there are 15 doctors and 53 candidates of sciences, honored coaches of Russia, honored workers of physical culture and sports, honorary workers of higher education, high achievers of physical culture and sports, judges of all-Russian category, masters of sports, and members of creative associations.
At students’ disposal there are six academic buildings, a unique sports base, a large research and development center of sports science, and small innovation enterprises.
The ISTS’s sports base is the largest and most equipped in the Chelyabinsk region. The object of pride is the swimming pool of Olympic standard. Students, trainees of the Children’s and Youth Sport Swimming School which was established on a parity basis with the city, and national swimming teams which uphold the honor of the university are training at the swimming pool.
The ISTS has 18 gyms (including gyms for physical training, workout rooms, and gyms for group programs, volleyball and basketball). The SUSU ISTS Student Sports Complex is the object of pride of Chelyabinsk and the region; it is widely known at the national scale.
